I'll link to the app again when I get home. It ties into the xinput driver for windows to trick it into thinking you are using an Xbox 360 controller when you are using a dualshock 4 from a ps4. It even works with the touchpad for mouse curser control. Rumble functions as well.

Is there an echo in here?

I meant to download the one day and forgot..figures. If I ever leave work I'll be able to set it up.

My EVGA GTX 760 just arrived so I can play it proper now. Amazing how well this game scales down - I've been playing it on a card I bought as a budget card two years ago. Pretty amazing. Smooth, looks good (at least coming from the console), no image tearing, decent framerate under the circumstances.

Nice I'm getting a lot of screen tearing on my monitor. I thinks just the fps going nuts even with the settings turned up. Maxing them also does not make it look any better or different. But yes the game was made to be playable by all types of cards.

Word is it's best to turn vsync off at the game level and on at the driver level. Might want to try that if you haven't already:

http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper

The version 1.2.2 is the latest. you can find the link in the first post on the thread.

Plug in your DS4, run the ScpServer application, click your controller in the window that pops up, Click options and you can turn the rumble strength up or down (both left and right), turn the touchpad on or off and more. Just minimize the scpserver when you are finished with your settings and leave it running in the background. Every game that functions with a Xbox360 controller will work with your DS4 natively. Just be sure to remember that when the game asks you to press a certain button it corresponds with another.

Select = Share
Start = Option
A = X
B = O
X = Square
Y = Triangle
RB = R1
LB = L1

This might be self explanatory but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I've found that I really need to learn some of these maps better. At least I think it's the maps. Could also be a loadout issue.

Whether I get put on a winning or losing team, my own performance will fluctuate madly. I mostly play attrition.

I am terrible on the training grounds. I'm not bad on corporate and one of the city maps. Like 0/10 K/D on maps I don't know to 10/1 on maps I do. Typing it out, I just need to find out what playstyle suits each map best.

I generally do better on hard point, but I actually stick around and hold a point. That's my ideal strategy. Top three killers should do most of the killing, and one member sticks around to defend a hardpoint after it's taken. Once you've got all three, the killers can roam and help defend as needed.

Particle wall has made my Ogre a killing fiend, though. Mostly survived a three on one encounter by throwing up a wall and taking care of the guy behind me, then letting loose on the other two. Doomed two, eventually had to eject and took some AI out in the nuclear blast. I was also lucky in that I had a good position when they converged. Other items are the shield recharge, lock-on missile, grenade launcer (fantastic against Titans, lousy against pilots for the most part, for me), and I think the core extender.

My issue is that I still have a problem finding the best load outs. It's a bit tough and the game needs more weapons and more game modes too. I mainly play attrition or hard point but the weapons classes and unlocks could be better. Adding that would just make it even more fun.

really only care about Hard Point because it has a nice combination of Titan & on foot combat imo

Attrition boils down to who can keep their Titans up longer while on foot combat is much more forced around enclosed hard points

on foot combat is much more enjoyable for me than Titan combat

I just use the Carbine. best all around weapon. loses in CQC to shotgun / SMG if shooting from the hip. if sight shooting, then it usually depends on who sees each other first.

yeah
carbine is too damn good

im trying the other ones though. Im using the C.A.R machinegun right now, unlocking the new sights.

CTF are pretty fun also. Being able to steal a flag in a titan is pretty awesome if you are doing it and pretty scary if you are defending haha

I'm a bit disappointed the sidearms don't hold up better. I'm working on the DMR and am boned at close quarters because my sidearm is no competition.

I'm not the type to put a dot on my monitor, so hip firing that gun is difficult.

But I do like that carbine. I don't have the C.A.R. yet, but it also seems like a good one. During hardpoint, I only choose the carbine or shotgun. Attrition lets me experiment some more and get a feel for how my weapons work best. I would like to CTF more, but something stops me every time.

Sidearms kill just fine, they just aren't designed to go head-to-head with an SMG/Carbine. You've got to avoid such encounters if you're playing sniper.

I'm loving the Kraber myself. It's a nice change of pace from sprinting around with an SMG, although I do usually get more kills that way.

I try to avoid them, but when they happen there's zero chance of me getting out alive. I suppose I should be running instead or finding better perches. But as soon as I'm getting fired on, I'm basically toast with no recourse.

I never claimed to be great, so I can't really speak to an imbalance or anything like that. It's just a situation I find myself in more than I'd like. But like you said, not getting into that situation would be ideal.

I've found radar pulses and satchel charges or mines to be the most effective. Find a good spot and lay the charges/mines for perimeter defense. If you're out of charges/mines, the old sniper adage of "shoot and move" seems to be effective. If you're bored you can always switch it up, rodeo a titan and plant some satchel charges.

Know what I don't like? Auto pistol spam. They've got to do something about that instagib BS. It's kind of rage inducing, especially when the same high level dumbass keeps killing me with his amped pistol.

I'll have to give the mines a shot. And moving more often. Radar pulses annoy me, but I can look into them again.

Great tips, thanks for sharing.

It takes time experimenting with all the weapons. The matches are sometimes short in attrition so if I want to run through a load out I'll play attrition to help me decide if I want to keep that load out.

The range is weak...easy prey from distance.

I forgot to add that I have used the amped pistol near the start of a match at times in order to get several grunt and spectre kills before the titans start dropping.

Just wait until you witness melee spam and see 3 guys taken out in a row by one guy spamming the kick button. If anything needs a nerf it's that since it has near zero delay and kills with one hit.

It's rather hard to pull off though. More than once I've ended up in a crouching tiger hidden clusterfuck of a jump-kick match with an opposing pilot. The winner was mostly by luck. I also wouldn't call it "zero delay" per-se, there's substantial execution time. Charge into a pack of Spectres and try to jump kick them all, the specters will kill you and you will feel like a dumbass.

I also love using grunts as a sort of camouflage. I'll wait until they come under fire and then run out. Most people will mistake you for just another grunt for a second or so, and many times that's all you need.

I've done it with a bunch grunts, just jump kicked the lot of them in a row but never tried it on pilots or anything. I don't see much delay when I'm mashing the button.

Yeah you can get away with it with grunts, but you can get away with most anything with grunts. I've found with specters that they'll shoot me as I'm jump-kicking/executing their squad-mates, so I'll get through 2-3 but the 4-5th will get me.

Once I see someone using the smart pistol in a match, I usually start throwing the sactel charges at anything that moves in close combat.
