Seriously... The knives were an awful addition.IOf course, at least its mechanics work right, unlike the drunken "targeting" system used for CoD knives.

Agreed - the movement is awesome. I only have one complaint so far (I'm at G2:20):
The shotgun needs nerfed. I normally don't whine about OP weapons, but it's on par with MW2's 1887. It practically negates any usefulness of the SMGs, and more and more people are running around with it now. I switched to it just to remain competitive, and it's just so easy to dominate with it. I feel like I'm cheating.
But the game is nothing but gold. Movement is amazing. Kills are gratifying. Titan battles are nothing short of epic. And the number of "did you just see that?!" moments are unmatched. I still see and do crap that blows my mind. Example: last night I had a guy rodeo'ing my titan and my smoke was still charging. Titan was almost doomed and I had an escape ship to catch. So I charged my titan off the edge of the map right as my passenger doomed me. I ejected and just barely caught the edge of the platform. I crawled up and made it to the ship. My passenger and titan fell into the abyss
I feel the same about the shotgun. It's got great range, and that's getting really annoying.
Exactly. The strength of it in close quarters is no big deal; that's what you'd expect of a shotgun. But when you have clowns getting up on ledges and sniping with it, we have a problem. And yes, I see that regularly.
The shotgun should only be effective in tight spaces. Once there's any real distance at all between two people, it should lose its effectiveness drastically (that's where SMGs should shine).
As it stands, there's virtually no use for an SMG. And shotguns are one-shot-kill up to pretty significant distances.
movement in this game is terrific imho. So many options.

Since when? I 'm a Gen 2 level 30 and I can't remember being shotgun sniped.
I've even killed a few shotgunners with pistols when they had to reload.
I see it regularly, and I'm not alone. It's notoriously OP in terms of range.
Then they had terrible aim or poor ammo management. If you encounter a shottie at medium distance (aka typical SMS range) and you both have equal skill and a full mag, shottie wins. That should only be true in short range scenarios.
i like the smg with the silencer. it's good for spamming multiple targets at once. you can prefire with it if you're using radar. i'm only level 16 though. i think the only gun i don't like so far is the default longbow. maybe if the zoom level wasn't so high it would be better.
On the contrary. "Short range" in titanfall usually means a cluster**REMOVED** of leaping, jump-kicking and shooting with no real possibility to "aim". In such encounters I've found SMGs to be superior as they put more lead into the air, scoring at least marginal hits while the shotgunner blazes away and hits nothing aside from extreme luck.
Now yeah if you run straight at a shotgunner with an SMG, or get close and double jump/hang in the air like a big slow clay pigeon, barring a headshot the shotgunner will win, but that's just bad tactics. Active Radar Pulse is your friend; so's the run&gun kit if you're using an SMG. If your enemy sees you before you engage then you're at a disadvantage and should back off regardless of what weapon they have.
That's quite the carefully crafted scenario The problem is, the shottie only needs to be close, and close only once. The SMG needs to be dead-on over a period of time. So even in your scenario, it's OP in my opinion. Don't take my word for it. Try the shottie out and see how easy it is to own with it. It's crazy how easy things become. The Model 1887 had the same issues in MW2. They eventually reduced its range and all was good. I hope they do the same here. In open spaces with any distance between players, the shottie should be all but useless. In a room, it should dominate.
People who make that claim, have hardly played the game... Or, more likely, have never played it.That's all really cool. When you watch stuff like that, you quickly start to question the complaints that Titanfall is too similar to Call of Duty. Maybe with the gunplay, but the map navigation is ridiculous.
Haha I like their cheating solution. Basic but very clever:

Well apparently we've had different experiences More than once I've had my CAR and been in a jumpy-fight with a shotgunner, took me 3-4 lightly sustained bursts to kill him while I remember hearing 4-5 shots from the shotgun either grazing me or missing.
