Agree 100%. Maybe they should have made the uncompressed audio optional as it can hurt their sales globally. A 50GB file can actually deter buyers. I thought MGS:R was bad but this is worse, it honestly doesn't offer anything to justify it's size. My BF4 folder is swelling towards the 40GB mark but I find it justified.

I don't really mind games getting bigger it's been happening since the very first game and part of the progress but when games exceed the current average game size as much as TF does, the bulk of should be in visual assets and/or content.

30GB of DRM.

I agree. What the heck do you need 34gb of audio for. It's mostly chatter from the ai and the prepare for titanfall scenario plus explosions and weapon fire. Glad the promotion I'm on from Comcast for the next couple months is 50mb down, it downloaded and installed pretty quickly.

I bet most of that stuff was for the 15 maps as well. It's got no single player so I don't understand why it's so big anyway. I feel bad for those on data caps.

I suppose if you bought the disc it would still download about 20gb or so.

The audio is for all the expansion packs that are "officially done" just needing maps made. Someone on reddit said they are aiming for TEN official packs. lol

So ten packs each costing 25 bucks or how many will each expansion have? There was a deal on direct2play to get the expansion for $16 bucks. Not sure if it's sold out yet.

I love this thread! If the game had only been like 600mb or something everyone would be scream "OMG it is too small!" and since they packed in as much as possible everyone screams "OMG it is too big!". I think the lot of you just want something to complain about for this game.

I preordered straight off Origin through a Mexican proxy. Came out to $37, or $46 for the Digital Deluxe.

Translation: I have nothing material to add to the discussion, but I like to go into threads and bitch about people bitching. I could just stay out of threads that annoy me, but I can't help myself because no one has a right to complain about anything that I don't have a problem with.

Or HDD space is absolutely pointless to complain about? Data caps, I can see. I imagine those people are already buying discs, though.

In any case, reviews are coming out, and they are generally showing that this game is satisfying the hype. Considering the hype for this game, that says a lot. I'm excited to play tonight. Game unlocks at 11 PM CST for PC downloads. I'll be able to fit about two matches in before I have to hit the sack.

I can also care about a topic but be supremely annoyed by people ignorantly shooting their mouths off, or complaining for no other reason that try and get some kind of hipster anti-hype train going (with no legitimate reasoning other than a thing has gotten too popular). If you played the beta and were not satisfied by the gameplay, audio, graphics, that's fine. Let's discuss that like adults.

I will admit, I did not play the beta. I bought into the hype and pre-ordered almost sight-unseen. Since pre-ordering, I have watched all the promo videos, and a few beta matches. All that did was convince me to upgrade my pre-order when the digital deluxe was announced. I am not the type of person to defend purchases. I will freely admit when I bought something that didn't work out for me.

Nothing I have seen has led me to believe that I will not have a blast playing this game. And people hating on things like the size of the audio, of all things, actually just cements my beliefs even more. Is the size of the audio (or the whole install) really a deterrant? It's just picking nits, and that was the best people could do.

I don't think that HDD is pointless to complain about. If you like to have several games on your PC at once, having them take 50 GB isn't a friendly game size for that HDD you're using. If you're a person who ALSO likes to have a lot of media on his PC, it can become problematic. Not everyone wants this game to become $50-60, plus a $100-150 investment in a bigger HDD.

What gamer has this problem, legitimately?

Terabyte drives have been around for a long time now. And my desktop, with it's 150+ GB of media and half a dozen games along with all the other programs on it are doing just fine.

Titanfall takes up just under 5% of a 1 TB HDD. Like I said earlier, it's picking nits. If you chose to just run with an SSD, you knew what you were getting into, complaining shines more on your lack of foresight than anything else in that situation.

I just don't see it as a valid complaint, at all. Your argument did nothing to convince me.

50GB is $25 of SSD space at low 840EVO prices. Just something to keep in mind.

Which is one of the main reasons I'm still running on Good'ol magnetic disks. I'll chalk this up as yet another if minor example of how early adopters get screwed; and yes, SSDs are still a very immature technology compared to HDDS.

Respawn isn't to blame for possible storage and bandwidth cap issues the end users may have, it's up to us to deal with it. Games continue to grow and I welcome the era of games weighing in at 50GB or 100GB, it implies more and better content, as long it's not just uncompressed bloat. The weird thing with TF for me is it's the first game to get to the 50GB mark and frankly nothing about it justifies it. Sound assets are typically 10-15% of total but with TF they take up 70%, 30GB of sound assets that could have maintained fidelity at a fraction of it's size. I haven't seen a single post here or a review elsewhere praising the exceptional sound. Someone earlier said they packed in as much as possible, it's more like they used a 53ft trailer to transport a pair of shoes.

As with Smackababy (who tows the same line in nearly every thread where someone raises a concern they have) just because it doesn't affect/matter to you, doesn't invalidate the concern. Added cost is added cost, regardless if you have it or not. What you state above can be said about anything and still is meaningless for that same reason. Telling someone they should "have this already because it's cheap" is what is not valid.

Aside from the comment that it could possibly hurt sales for direct downloaders, I don't see a post anywhere that someone states they aren't getting the game due to the size, simply a conversation about why it is so big and what is the need for it (and even, is there a way to remove some of that size). They are all valid questions and one of the pros of having PC versions.

There are going to be expansions, currently there are plans for 3. Expansion audio might be pre-loaded. I agree that it's still rather weird though.

If you look where it installed you will notice audio for several maps, possibly even the expansions. I think one person here mentioned something of that nature.

I have a 250gb ssd and have most of my games installed on my 1tb hd. Doesn't affect me much and I have other media on that drive as well.

I too was just wondering why pack in so much audio if it doesn't even come with a single player campaign.

I liked the beta a lot and I'm going to enjoy this game. Wish I could play tonite but by the time it's unlocked I won't get much sleep for work tomorrow.

I'm well aware that an issue can affect others and not myself. I just don't buy it for HDD's. I gave my reasons, and I believe them to hold up. My argument wasn't simply "it's cheap now," as you over-simplified it. My argument was that it's been cheap for years now. Long enough that only people that can't run the game would have it as a legitimate complaint. And cheap enough that a married college student on a tight budget was still able to stick a 1 TB HDD in my computer.

The flip side to your argument is that just because a person has a concern does not validate it. They may see it as one in their mind, but at the end of day, it's frivolous. We all do it with different things. I believe that any complaints in regards to HDD space are frivolous or a result of short-sightedness. Or do you really go into a conspiracy board where they're trying to link Illuminati to everything and tell them their concerns should be addressed? I see this as no different.

I would also argue that adding a HDD cost and directly associating it with a single game is a fallacy. You'll obviously use that drive for other things. One game or program or whatever may have been an impetus, but to just say that Titanfall cost $60 + $100 is false. Unless you only bought that HDD for Titanfall and it's the only thing that will ever be on it. Upgrades are upgrades. The timing is up to the buyer, but it's stupid to say Windows 8 cost a person $800+ if they decided to put it on a new computer.

Post #575 is what I was referencing, and you are correct that it wasn't deterring the actual poster, but I wasn't saying it was either.

I've seen people complain about the 6v6 and the refresh rate. Both of those seemed valid to me, as the arguments put up were compelling. Neither bother or affect me, but I accepted those concerns. I've seen people say that the gameplay didn't grab them at all. I didn't try to convince them they were wrong.

I just don't accept the storage space concern as valid. It's not like I'm acting entitled that what I think is what everyone thinks. I'm saying that I don't buy the HDD requirement as a valid complaint for anyone, especially people on a board like this one.

It's interesting that you would even argue from the "just because you don't care doesn't mean others don't" angle given your signature.

Just because it does not affect some of you it does mean is a valid point bring up.

Get off your high horse, yes I have a few TB drives but I like my games on the he ssd. 50 GB is a lot. And when 70% of it is audio files don't try excuse it. It has been said that the game is installing all the audio languages. Every other game gives you and option, while TF just says open wide.

I wonder if the origin US edition also installs all the language files. My guess is yes and the only difference with global edition is the servers you can play on.

Ordered at 11:05 tonight. 50GB preload finished in 15 minutes. Have no idea how that happened. I only pay for 50mbps from Comcast, but the download rate was hovering between 30MBps and 50 MBps most of the time. Fastest I have seen anything download on my home network.

Yea it didn't take long on Sunday either for me to download. I have the same speed as you. Unfortunately I have to get up early tomorrow so I can't play tonite.

So, anyone else waiting up for the midnight release? I caved in and bought it from Russia, pre-loaded earlier today.
