I care about gaming experience potential more-so than just price/performance.

Why is it that AMD's drivers are always behind the curve? I was lucky enough to buy a pair of 7970 VaporX's only a couple weeks before they released their most recent drivers, but before that I had always bought Nvidia out of fear that Crossfire was unreliable.

I care about what hardware actually delivers the best experience. Not about potential, about what may be offered, what some might find valuable, about how the market responds.

Agreed! This is why even with 7970 Ghz editions being faster in benchmarks, I would still buy 680's. They deliver what I consider a better experience via features and support, imo.

If the features are a priority with acceptable performance for the user then rightly so.

I have been stuck on AMD CPUs for the same reasons, but its getting close to the point that the performance is not enough.

Do you own a Radeon card?

Yes, I own both. A majority of my systems have been powered by AMD/ATi fwiw, by a ratio of around 4:1.

Do you own a 6xx series nvidia card?
Yes, paired with my AMD processor (just upgraded to an 8350). I've swapped in and out my Radeon with my GeForce on both my gaming rigs several times, mainly to try and see what all the noise is about. But honestly, the difference is nothing to get all bent out of shape over, they are both very fast cards. In most cases you simply won't be able to tell much of any difference. I sure as heck don't get that "smoother" experience with my GeForce card, this is a red herring invented by those that are desperate to paint AMD in a poor light because they currently have the more robust hardware, IMO.

Keep in mind I game on a plasma TV@1080p, at a higher rez the 7970 starts to show its advantages.

Your single card experience is enough to discount [H]'s observations about multi-gpu entirely?

[H] is "desperate to paint AMD in a poor light"? It sounds more like you just want any information that looks bad for amd squashed.

I own both now, but only single GPUs. I kept my 680 SLI for about 6 weeks, and 7970 CF for about a month. There was no difference in smoothness to me, or microstutter. However my Nvidia cards were faster at the time, for the most part. I was also able to overclock the Nvidia cards higher than I could overclock my AMD cards (1395 MHz in SLI versus 1175 MHz in CF). The Nvidia cards were Asus DCII models with volt mod though, while the AMD cards were reference models.

My own personal experience is enough to discount an [H] reviewers observation.

Why is everything a battle to some of you people? How can you take anything I said to mean that they're fabricating something? Here, let me simplify it for you, into a few, easily understandable lines:

1. [H] says it's not smooth, on their system, with their test instrument called eyes.
2. I say it is, on my system, with my test instruments.
3. Therefore, based on my personal experience, I disagree with some reviewer guys assessment, that he got using his eyes, because my eyes tell me otherwise.

Is this better for comprehension of my neutral post? I own both, I like both, they both do the same thing for me. Let me know when you've used 7900 series Crossfire.

The point goes right by you and getting tiresome.

Instead of being vocal and offering blanket views on which hardware is the better buy or superior, or winning, what is important to me is actual choice from the vendors so gamers may decide what best fits their subjective balance of tastes and tolerances.

For me, personally, allow the market to decide for over-all --- for me, I buy based on my subjective balance of tastes and tolerances, which is geared towards gaming experiences.

HardOCP has tested a lot more hardware than you.

Good for them, and good for you bro. You can place another check mark in the Nvidia roxorz chart on your bedroom wall. I let my eyes and personal experience decide. Again, let me know when you personally compare Kepler SLI to Tahiti CF, thanks

Why don't you share your findings? Investigate this for the community since you have both. Be constructive instead of personal.

My findings are what I said, that my eyes tell me otherwise. The findings of H are based 100% on their eyes, and how it "feels". Feels and looks fine to me. My findings are just as scientific and repeatable as their findings.

You could offer similar testing as TechReport! At least there is some data, to match their subjective findings.

I'm really just not that interested, to be honest. I'm amazed that this is so serious to some people, when there really is no actual data.

Anyway, if I personally could see differences in game play with the 2 different solutions, then maybe I would, but as far as I'm concerned they were both great to me. Also, I no longer have multi GPU, just one of each.

As an owner of 3x gtx670s, 2x gtx680s, 3x 7970s and 2x 7950s I can completely agree with you on a single card perspective. They are both equally smooth running single card configurations and certain games run better/worse on either card. I can go out and buy more cards and test the crap out of this but I think its really dependent on specific hardware and drivers. My configuration below is great for both but it could be different with other hardware obviously.
