I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone looking to build a fast new PC. It's definitely not a gaming videocard, but will be a fine replacement for a 4 MB Trident that some of you are using

I have this card, and really like it for general use. Nice colors, fast refresh at 1024x786x32bpp(maybe 24bpp?). Built-in hardware DVD decoder. Not for hard-core gamers though.

jtek, the last time I looked into getting a DVD player for the computer was a couple of years ago but I decided to get one for the T.V. instead. I was under the impression that I would need a decoder card like a "hollywood" card or whatever to play it on the computer. Is this capability built in the newer video cards now or am I missing something?

You do not even haft to have a decoder card for dvdroms, you can use a software dvd decoder instead. That is what my dad uses on his computer, and he has used it on a celeron 300Mhz, and now his AthlonXP 1400

fitzm...most newer video card will decode DVD...as always hardware is better than software.

I got to OD and they dont have it on clearance:|. They have it for $70 instead of $50. So it would be $30ish after coupon & MIR. I passed. They did have a nice leather chair for $110. Use the $30 off $100 for a pretty fair deal. Also a $60 leather chair, but it wasnt quite as nice.

ati vid cards (and newer nvidia's) have hardware dvd acceleration... the rage pro is a great little card for a 'multimedia' or 'work' pc... and it oc's pretty good, too, if u add a hsf to the chip... not for modern games, tho... although it does flight sim 2000 pretty nice...
