The effects definitely wear off. A roommate of mine goes through two pots a day with no real effects. But if I drink a cup, yes a cup of coffee I am stoked on the world and amp'd for hours. I have zero caffeine tolerance.

Depends on the person. I drink a pot per day usually from a french press, but some days I don't have any, and others I have more than one pot. If I don't have it, I don't notice any ill effect. If I have a bit too much, I definitely get the jitters. I think if you're getting severe withdrawal symptoms, it's because you've consumed too much regularly for too long. That, or your body just hates you.

As for 'beneficial effects', lol. Negligible at best. Coffee is just good, that's all.

Caffeine works with your adrenal glands. Drink too much on a consistent basis and you can fatigue them. This is why people get a tolerance towards heavy caffeine consumption. It's best to wean yourself off caffeine from time to time. Maybe a week or two. You'll definitely notice the difference.

It's just one example, but I drink french press coffee daily and my LDL is 101.

I think there are far worse things for you than unfiltered coffee.

That's good. I'm one of those unlucky people who's genetically predisposed to high LDL, so I'm trying to avoid dietary sources where possible.

Bought an Aeropress yesterday and have read many good things about it.

Yeah, there is tolerance... but I still get a big kick out of caffeine, even though I consume a lot of it.
(1 large coffee in morning, ~3 diet pops throughout the day)

For me, it's also about how fast you consume it.
If I chug a coffee because I am about to go into a long morning meeting, my heart races and I am jittery.
If I drank the same amount over 15min., I wouldn't feel nearly the same.

The more coffee you drink, the smarter you get, also the more often you have to urinate.

You think that the laxative effects of coffee help you lose weight?

I specifically make coffee most mornings for its laxative effects. Before I drank coffee, I had all kinds of random schedules. Coffee has allowed me to take control of my schedule so I can make it work for me.

No question, coffee is a mild laxative. But it ain't helping anyone lose weight. You can lose weight by abusing real laxatives, to the point where food runs through you like you had an intestinal virus. But all coffee is going to do is reschedule that 1PM poop for 9AM.

The laxative effect wont, but as stimulant and appetite suppressant it might help you lose weight. IHateMyJob200 didn't actually say the laxative effect is what made him lose weight, if you go back and read what he posted.

You can definitely lose some water weight from coffee as a diuretic. Tea is more effective, though. Well, at least it's easier to drink a greater volume of tea without other side effects.

Recent developments on the benefits of coffee from MNT news

Coffee may reduce stroke risk. A study monitored coffee consumption of 83,269 Japanese adults aged 45 to 74 years and found that people who drank coffee on a daily basis were at a 20 percent lower risk of stroke compared to those who did not drink it often.11

High coffee intake may help against prostate cancer. According to a study published in the journal Cancer Causes and Control, men who drank four or more cups of coffee a day had 59% reduced risk of prostate cancer recurrence and/or progression than those whose coffee consumption was just one cup a week or less.12

Can coffee protect our eyesight?. Research published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that drinking coffee may protect against deteriorating eyesight and even blindness.

Tinnitus less common in women who drink more coffee. A new study in The American Journal of Medicine finds that women who consume more caffeine are less likely to have tinnitus.

Study links coffee intake with reduced risk of endometrial cancer. Endometrial cancer is the most common cancer of the female reproductive organs in the US, affecting around 1 in 37 women in their lifetime. But in a new study, researchers found that drinking three to four cups of coffee a day could reduce the risk of endometrial cancer by almost a fifth.

more or less 2 cups/day since I was around 17-18, I have been at 3 cups for a while a few times in my life, but 2 cups seems to be the sweet spot

I've been drinking a pot of coffee a day for 10 years or more. The first cup in the morning is still awesome. Somewhere around the third cup I hit my peak in terms of coffee related goodness. Everything after that doesn't do much. That much has remained consistent through the years anyway.

I hear people say that if you aren't addicted to caffiene you feel that good right when you wake up instead of needing coffee to get there. Those people are either liars or stupid. Before I drank coffee I never felt good before about 11:00 a.m.. I just thought that was who I was in the morning. Starting my caffiene habit was a revelation for me. I honestly don't think my body chemistry is made for 7:00 a.m. alertness, but I can achieve it artificially with a couple of cups of coffee. I can't fathom how much better I would have done in high school and college if I was a coffee drinker back then.

Am I the only one that acts differently after consuming a lot of coffee. I'd say on cup 4, I start acting overly social. Kinda like I had a few beers at a party.

Does the beneficial effects of Coffee lessen if you drink it consistently? Say... one cup every other day?

By beneficial effects I mean the focus enhancement and the keeping awake.

Caffeine is a drug. Like any other drug, you will grow a tolerance. This is why I go without caffeine for about 2 weeks to flush it out of my system and reset the clock on it every now and then.

Watch, your first cup after resetting will set you into hyper jittering.

I used to take Caffeine + Ephedrine for weight loss, so I had a routine of taking the same amounts every day. You easily start to see when it's no longer as effective. And yes, Carson - it can be used with weight loss. I'm living proof, and just google "EC Stack".
