Ahhhhhhh, so that's how it works. Damn it! Now my strategy isn't going to work. People are going to be able to quickly kill how many computer I have connected.

On the other hand, I'm up to 126 infected computers now. And, I discovered something I'm a bit reluctant to reveal (that would be realized if you thought about what I did & connected the dots). Nonetheless, my kbps is right back up where it was before I sold all of my mhz and kbps to buy the upgraded virus.

I was going to try the same thing, unfortunately I BOUGHT upgrades instead of sold so i lost a lot of my credits. I sold them back but only at 75% of hte original value.

I need to pay more attention.

It's simple: kbps are attack, mhz are defense. You have to have more kbps than the other person has mhz. If while you're building up, you keep them about even, you'll know what rank approximately corresponds to what number of mhz. i.e. if you're ranked 500th in mhz, and you have 2500 mhz, then you know that to defeat someone ranked near you, you'll need more than 2500 kbps.

I'll try to explain with an example:
Let's say you and a future opponent each are ranked 300th in mhz, and 500th in kbps. You plan on attacking that person 10 ticks from now. Amazingly, during those 10 ticks, you manage to get to 10th in mhz.

So, it looks like your stats are now much better than his - but you don't pair mhz to mhz and kbps to kbps. It's YOUR kbps vs. HIS mhz. You are going to lose the attack. (And, he'd lose the attack vs. you.)


So, again, as you build up your mhz, keep track of what rank corresponds to how many mhz. Unfortunately, I didn't write this down (and it will definitely fluctuate over time.) That way, you'll know how many kbps are needed to defeat any particular person. I've only lost one attack so far - that's when I looked deeper to figure this out. Hopefully, it makes sense. If it doesn't, I'll try to explain it another way.

Thanks for the explanation, but it wasn't needed. I did stated in my OP that my stats are clearly HIGHER on both counts, and I failed. When attacking, mhz is useless. Do you really think these two elements of this simple game is overlooked? I can correspond my mhz ratings to their mhz ratings and know and know what kbps ratings I need to be at to defeat them. And again, mines were clearly much higher (yes, because I even went back a few pages) and failed 4 times in a row.

I think you're still interpreting it wrong, else you've got incredibly bad luck. There are only two things you have to pay attention to: your kbps and their mhz. It doesn't matter that your kbps is ranked 300th and their mhz is ranked 400th. You need to have a good idea of exactly how many mhz their 400th corresponds to. And, you have to have more kbps than that amount.

That they rank them rather than explicitly list them makes it harder to decide exactly who to attack. Otherwise, you'd always know you were going to win.

Now, the bad luck part - I had just massively upgraded my mhz, but it still listed me as 1153rd in the rankings. Anyone attacking me would have been surprised to lose.

Isn't that what I just wrote? I looked at MY mhz ratings, and see that it's HIGHER than theirs, so I know what they have for mhz, LESS than mine. Then I look at my kbps ratings, and KNOW I can defeat them... How is it possible that you have problems with comprehension?

will have 3 IPs in a few mins... planning a major assault. what do you think will be more benificial to upgrade, Attack Bankwidth/kbps or Virus level?
Not planning to accumulate crs and dont mind loosing a few computers, so not too worried about the Mhz

You were a bit ambiguous, as you only stated "stats." Regardless, you're doing *something* wrong.
