if you have to have more bandwidth than they have megahtz... since the ranking curve is different, how do you know how high you can successfully attack?

I only lost one attack out of the first 40 or so. Since then, my ratio is going down a little bit. I occasionally find people who I know are borderline & I hope for the best. 11336 kbps failure against 288th
13068 success at 283rd, failure to 282nd
16960 = 271st

Also, as you build up mhz, keep track of how many mhz was what rank. While it's relatively trivial if you're 350th place or over, once you start moving up, players are spread further and further apart. i.e. an extra 5000mhz only moved me up about 30 positions.

What kind of extrapolation? Linear? Exponential? Logarithmic?
I'll give you more data points after I've passed them. I realized I was foolish to reveal my past rank & mhz - makes someone searching online 100% certain of success (or failure)

Very good. I've been getting attacked all night long, but I still pull in about 5000 credits per turn (I've been with virus level 4 since this morning) - I'll be upgrading to level 5 soon. I am happy with this run...I believe I will stick to the noob list for some time.

I was able to upgrade to Virus 3 instantly by only selling 10 noob internet connections, instead of my entire rig, as I had planned.
