I upgraded to lvl 8 virus in a day, you guys can do it too, vault at 17 going to 18 in a few hours. You can just keep hitting them to bring them down.

This guy Sypp (166) was attacking me yesterday and got like 300k creds from me over night. he then continued to attack me after I mesg him congratulating him on the hit and to please step off because he won't get anymore from me. No response from him so I built up my bandwidth and have been hitting him all day...no creds but I have taken prolly 10k of his machines down. fun fun fun
