Its stating the obvious that everyone knows for years now. There are not enough Mac comps running to go through the pain of making viruses/Trojans/worms for them, if you make for windows you get 5 times more comps to hack. Also dumb mac users don't have anything useful on their comps worth hacking anyways.

aah rest mah case

I'm pretty sure you can customize a tricycle. I mean I've seen little kids put streamers and flags and stickers on their tricycles.

At my work when they are praising macs (as well as kissing Apple employees, and the bosses ass) I hear "Idiot proof" thrown around on a regular basis. Yet, alot of issues that do occur can become a pain in the ass. And, half the time its the idiots we have to fix minor problems for.

A mac fanboi (actually girl) I know runs a dual boot G5 (winxp and OSX). She was over at our house (all computers and laptops on Win7). She was remarking how she hates Windows on her mac. I told her she's running a 10 year old OS, might as well be running OS 9 on her Mac.

Then she complained about how unreliable her 5 years old Mac was.

She's just clueless, mac or not...just clueless (yes, cool story bro)...

Ps - she also only buys organic food (including baby foods), refuses to eat processed foods, any thing to do with sesame seeds...and swears by agave nectar, no matter what anyone says...and she I alway remember to eat something before dinner when we have the "pleasure" of being invited for dinner at their house.

I spec'ed out a HP Envy 15 and a Alienware 17". The specs were pretty much the same except maybe for the video cards. The price difference was around 50 for the envy and the 15" macbook pro and about 100-150 for the alienware.

When you say customize what do you mean? Most users do not want to open up their PC and install PCI cards, video cards, and other stuff like that.

You guys forget that the newest OSX release comes bundled with an anti-virus and Apple themselves recommend users to download one now cus they are getting attacked more often then they ever were since they're getting more popular.

Snow Leopard comes with a rudimentary virus scanner.

"For starters, not only is the protection limited to just two trojan families, the effectiveness is further limited by its only working with iChat, email, and the browser. "

Sure it's a virus scanner but really 2 trojans and only 3 programs?

If you cannot build your own system, it sucks.

I don't care how great Apple's OS is, I want to build my own, overclock, and customize it.

Apple never makes anything with customization in mind. All of their products are locked down and you have to hack the product to do any basic customization. It's how they like it and that's how they optimize their things. Lock down the hardware/software and it runs smoother at the expense of any type of customization.

Which may or may not be why they cost to much compared to PCs. They have a monopoly on the parts.

And you have that right. No one is stopping you. But not everyone wants to or can even build, overclock, or customize their own computer. And overclocking does give issues sometimes, especially when you're figuring out how high it can go. Plus with the new Intel chips it overclocks and underclocks on its own.

Customize how?

I think the thing is not that Windows is better then mac, it's that PC is better then mac. With a PC you can customize anything you want, and you can even put any OS you want. If you want Windows, Linux, some other OS, you can do it. Macs are more like toasters. you plug it in, and it does what it's designed for, but not more, and you can't really change what it does.

Customize how?

I'd like to choose my own....

Case
Mouse and Keyboard
Harddrive brand
Aftermarket heatsinks
RAM
Video and Sound cards

Some of these may be customizable with Apple, I don't know much about what does or doesn't work hardware wise on an Apple, but I know the available options are far less.

I like having "my" computer, something I created and speaks for me. I do not want one I "picked out." That's the allure of PCs I guess.

Not everyone needs or wants this but it's something that is important to myself as a consumer as part of the computer experience.

As far as overclocking. There are risks in everything (driving on the interstate), I'm not concerned about my i3 frying (which is unlikely and very difficult to do, even as I pushed it to nearly 5Ghz on air.)

You can choose whatever:

Mouse and Keyboard (I have a Logitech Wave and a VX Revolution)
Hard drive is user replaceable
RAM is also user replaceable

Changing heat sinks, video and sound cards are not for your average user. If that's what you want to do a Mac isn't for you and isn't even being marketed towards you.
