First season was great, looking forward to this one. I was kind of wondering what would happen with this show, glad to see they're continuing it.

yeah. To be honest I didn't watch the first season until they approached me about working on the second. Its good tv. Mind you I have seen 2 scenes and read all the scripts so far. Going to nyc on friday to record the city with my holophone and get access to props for recording.

hope you guys watch in surround sound.

Appreciate that. I think there are definitely people who want way more from their tv-show experiences, but I just want a good story told in an interesting way. Season 1 nailed that for me, and season 2 looks good. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I will be DVR-ing.

As disappointing as I was in the Fight Club ripoff of the first season, I'll probably watch this again.

So I finally started watching this since Amazon made it available for streaming. I'm only on Ep3 but couple things that are bothering me...

Is the place really called "Evil Corp" or is it that we are seeing and hearing through Elliot and what he imagines? That's kind of confusing, but I hope what is going on. If the place is really named "Evil Corp" I'll be over here rolling my eyes. Also, pretty blatant rip-off of Dell's "E" logo. But I guess they aren't using it anymore.

There's three main girls in Elliot's life at this point and 2 of them look nearly identical. C'mon.

It's nerdy, It's "OK", hope it goes somewhere from here. I'm not falling over in love with the main actor like everyone else seems to be.

It get's both better and worse as the season goes on, the "worse" parts being toward the very end. But yeah, we are only hearing people say "Evil Corp" through Elliot, in the beginning you would hear people say E-Corp but it quickly changes. I don't see the "E" as a rip-off of Dell though, the Enron "E" is askew like Dell as well, perhaps intentional but not a big deal to me.

Why the heck did they stick this show at such a oddball timeslot? 11PM?
New, 6/20/2016, Drama, Sci-fi, Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Creator Sam Esmail, stars Rami Malek and Christian Slater and other experts talk about the unlikely success of the show and how they were able to make hacking a relatable subject; also featured is a recap of season one and a look ahead to season two.

Middle of the night they don't have to worry about parents flipping out about the content now that the show's profile is way up. Same as most of the better FX shows and the like.

So I just forced myself through Episode 3 or 4, can't remember which but basically
Elliot does heroin and 20 minutes of annoying bullshit dream/high sequence happens
. Ugh, that was painful.

That's only for that documentary special. The regular show will air at 10ET/9CT, like it was last year. I think it's in the same time slot, day and time, as last season.

That's one of the few bits I just didn't like. However, it plays a part later in the season.

The shows a trip. That's for sure.

I watched the first season. It wasn't the worst show, but it was really predictable. I'm not sure anyone missed it was a Fight Club thing. From what I saw from the snippet of the "We're so awesome" documentary it sounds like they're going more action for season two (the actor says he got to know his stunt double really well this season). Not sure how that will play out. I'll give it few episodes but not sure it'll keep me for the season.. One more dream episode and I'm out.

Just binge-watched it. Pretty fun. Better geek-speak than any other show out there (need I remind you of this or this?). Kind of reminded me of a professionally-shot version of Welcome to the Scene:

Looking forward to Season 2!

It was a little far-fetched that E-Corp used this relatively small boutique company Allsafe for their security -- and that they had some 26 year old, unseasoned account rep handling the whole thing.

That bothered me, but in a different way. You'd be amazed at how many multi-million-dollar companies have crap for backup - one bad domino effect & they'd literally be wiped out of existence. Did you ever see how they almost lost Toy Story 2?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dhp_20j0Ys

So I definitely bought that part of it because I've worked for places setup like that, it's just absolutely insane. It's not that hard, people - just setup local, offsite, and offline backups. Anyway, I wanted to see more conspiracy stuff...they're the largest Walmart-Apple hybrid conglomerate in the world & they don't seem all that evil on the inside. Tyrell was climbing the ladder in a very corporate way, which isn't exactly uncommon. The CEO is a jerk (talking bad to Elliott's friend about the guy who offed himself on TV, then having a public moment of silence for him). But I wish there was more of the stuff with the CTO guy - meetings where it was decided to hide things like the toxic waste spill & just setup a fund for the future (which was now 5x as large as required). That's the kind of nasty evil stuff that actually happens IRL!

I love the show personally. There's the constant internal conflict you get from the narration and I've always had a fondness for good narration. Probably comes from having watched so many documentaries.

And the last episode was really good. The human engineering that enables so many hacks is something that generally gets overlooked in bs shows like CSI Cyber. Most of the time you watch stories like that and just shake your head. It's one thing to suspend disbelief when it's not a major component of the story and something else entirely when it IS the story.

Yeah, I like the narration quite a bit. Rami does a really good job with that.

Social engineering is really interesting because people are very, very skilled at it. My core field is hardware, but I do a bit of security here & there and have been absolutely amazed at how incredibly targeted some phishing emails are...like there are literally people out there who took the time to research people in the company & do in-depth phishing schemes, such as making fake websites with a slight misspelling & legit graphics, using people's nicknames & contact references, etc. Really scary stuff.

Yeah, and I was also fine with the mystery of his psychosis. Like finding out
he forgot Darla was his sister
was shocking. It would be interesting to know if anything else we've seen with him simply didnt happen at all. Maybe he never even confronted the child porn dude.

But even if the only person he sees is his dad, it could still work for many seasons, like Baltar in Battlestar Galactica.

Seriously -
after he kissed her, as soon as she was super mad at him, I knew it was a Star Wars moment - you just kissed your sister, dude! Then it clicked...his dad was dead, she was his sister, he was in fact mental, and he'd blocked out the painful parts of his memories - and he was the central figure in this whole scheme. What followed after felt very Memento-esqe...running through what happened once the veil of remembrance was lifted.

I really hope they go back & explain some of the scenes,
like when Tyrell is talking to Mr. Robot outside of the funhouse in his SUV & threatening to tell the world his secret...but then later tracking down Elliott at his apartment & forcing him to tell him what his plan is. I'm kind of confused about a few scenes like that & how they tie together...like if Elliott has shown up to Tyrell before as Mr. Robot & explained his split-personality situation to him or something.

Think this starts in a week or two in Canada -- I recall a couple week/month lag for the first season.

Finally finished S01. Hrm, I don't know how I feel. One side of me thinks this could be a really "neat" show (at best). The other side is thinking "Ugh, thankful I'm done with this season". Once the punchline was exposed they kinda dragged it on to fulfill their episode count.
