FYI, I installed Chameleon 2 RC2 and put in Netkas PC_EFI V.10.1, works perfectly.
As for the DSDT tutorial, here ya go: http://www.insanelymac.com/for...x.php?showtopic=177497
It is for another board, but the .pdf document is really great and should tell you a lot. Also beware that there is a new tool by the spanish osx86 community, but to use it you need some understanding of DSDT beforehand. I used it to tweak my DSDT a little bit, but onboard sound still ain't working (but given the sound quality of the ALC888, it's not a bis miss).

A sidenote: The VIA 6306 chipset for Firewire has it quirks with the P35 chipset. If you want to make full use of Firewire, go and buy a Texas Instruments of Nec based OCHI Chipset. I just found that out with an external iSight.

ud3p users. check out this video on stell's blog: http://stellarola.tumblr.com/p...be-simple-edited-using

he posted the installer to a thread on insanely: http://www.insanelymac.com/for...showtopic=183502&st=40

I have installed the TEST2 installer on a Snow Leopard partition upgraded from 10.5.8 and everything is perfectly in order. mind you that i am using external audio and pci ethernet. apparently on board audio and ethernet (sans bonjour) work with this as well, but mine are disabled in the bios.

as mentioned in the insanely thread this is for dual dvi out nvidia cards.

Did you install Snow Leopard on your P35-DS3L? You think the guide will work on my machine? (I have EP35-DS3L)

Actually Bonjour does work with DSDT enabled ethernet in Snow, with the "ifconfig promiscuity" script fix. (I think Stella has included this in his final package, he mentioned he would.)

Audio works either without a kext (layout "66" with pin config in DSDT) or using Stella's choice of DSDT with an accompanying plist/kext carrying the pin config.

Highly recommend the USBE/EHCI DSDT mod on Stella's blog as well.

All that being said, I can't speak to Stella's installer package as I have not used it.

Stella is the man! He's the reason I've been able to write the guides...without his help I really wouldn't be anywhere. His blog is awesome

I want to try that layout 66. Does it solve the sleep issue with 10.5.8?

.

Hi Machinist,

Could you please describe the whole layout "66" thing for us please. I am having issues with my audio where I only get the rear output working. If possible, could you please post the "device" section for what you describe. I would be grateful.

EDIT: I found your post on Insanelymac... and the code. It tried it out, but I am still getting only rear audio. I can use the "french" kexts from here, but this only works in 32 bit. I am looking for a 64 bit solution for SL.

French Kexts for Audio

Thanks,

Hernando

We're hoping it will be, but it's still in the testing stages right now. Still playing with dynamic video detection, and the R1000 stuff for 64-bit is still in beta mode. I think I'll be leaning towards a single DSDT release, and if you use external stuff, just leave the onboard enabled in BIOS and switch what you want to use in Sys Prefs. Still twiddling with things

Is it possible to use an ATI card with that package? I have a 3870, and plan on upgrading to a GTX260 or GTX285 later this month. Is it possible to run with a 3870.

It really, really depends on the card. The ATI cards aren't working out too well with the dynamic system due to the structure of the drivers. I suspect a few might work...somewhat...but most ATI cards need an installer package to get the drivers installed, versus just an EFI String. Although some of the newer Nvidia cards, like the GTX 285, require an installer as well to put in the additional libraries and whatnot required to support them.

Is there any advantages with a Firewire soundcard/interface as opposed to USB? I don't mean in terms of audio latency etc., just in terms of the card behaving itself in Leopard?

Thanks in advance.

Just beginning to get a Leopard install going, I've read Leopard Soup a ton of times and various threads etc, but I still couldn't believe it when the DVD booted and I was at the Leopard installer.

Installed now, 2nd time of trying. At first I got: "Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer......The installer cannot prepare the volume for installation. You may need to prepare your disk using Disk Utility."

When searching for that on Google all the results were from actual Apple users, it was simple, I just forgot to set the disk as GUID.

I have a DS3L setup running 10.5.6 fine, followed Kaido late '80 Guide. I use 2 internal hard disks, both 320G, and SuperDuper clone primary to backup.

I just replaced the 320G backup with a new Samsung 1.5TB internal.
- Formatted Mac OSX Extended (Journalled), GPT.
- Ran a SuperDuper backup onto it
- Ran UInstaller 1.2, checked off "Boot Timeout", "Native Boot Resolution", and "Install PCI_EDI v9 Chameleon Edition 1.0.12"
- UInstalled completed fine.

Tried to then boot off the new 1.5TB disk, and I get:
...
boot0: GPT
boot0: HFS+
boot0: error

Any ideas? Is a 1.5TB disk supported by that version of Chameleon? Any updates I should make to the boot setup?

Thanks!

Install Chameleon RC3:

http://chameleon.osx86.hu/arti...and-large-disk-support

It supports 1TB+ disks. Alternatively, you could probably partition the disk into 1TB/500GB and install to either one. I've got PC_EFI v9 on my 1TB Samsung.

That could certainly explain the problems I've had then. I tried to register on there and sent a request to the owner for access. Thanks again Kaido!

My discs are just OSX, no dual-boot games. So I'm not quite clear about the first step of Chameleon RC3 install instructions (which I did anyway) which state:
"- Install boot0 to the MBR: ..."

Suggestions? If all else fails, I'll partition down to below 1TB as you suggest as a fall-back.

Thanks!

But still waiting on a proper guide for snow. My installs have all been crappy... no time to mess with it either. Which is the main problem.
