Got my Snow Leopard - Vista x64 dual boot setup running. Really easy once I figured everything out. Using 32 bit kernel right now so I can get speed step and was unable to add my GTX 260 to my patched DSDT, so I used an EFI string in my boot.plist for it.

Very pleased, though! I feel like I have a real understanding of how to install and maintain a Hackintosh system now. Would never have gotten where I have without Kaido giving me the tools to start and blackosx on InsanelyMac providing his great DSDT and Dual Boot guides.

Anyone seen this?

Yep, I don't have to actually unplug mine, just a reboot fixes the problem. Very random and thankfully not very often. I've never even tried the other port, but I'm sure it does it also. It hasn't happened often enough for me to search for a cure, but if you do we certainly would appreciate hearing about it.

Great to hear! Did you use that Dr Hurt installer? Just curious as some reported problems with it. Worked fine for me though. I still need to plug the video card EFI string into my boot.plist though. It works fine now, but I like things to match!

Well actually no, I built the boot disc from scratch! I was worried about having incorrect video info in the DSDT so I opted to do everything myself. I was very particular about my SMBIOS Pref. Pane this time... my computer is convinced it is a MacPro3,1 all the way down to the Boot ROM, SMC Version and Serial Number (If any of this is dangerous to have in the SMBIOS please let me know!)

Now, I have a question for the thread; is there a way to add 1024x600 resolution to the Displays Pref. Pane? I'm getting a Netbook and plan to use Back to My Mac with it and want to be able to quickly adjust the screen size on my remote desktop.

Hmmm, I know you can set the resolution in the boot.plist or in Chameleon when booting, but I believe the resolutions in the display prefs come from the display (monitor) itself. Maybe someone else might know.

I now have 3 displays on my DS3L in 10.6, at least while running in 32 bit mode. The HIS MultiView 10.5 drivers work fine this way, but not for 64 bit. They claim it will be later this year before 64 bit drivers are available.

I have read the DSDT tutorial PDF file and have seen the light. I will be using this method, most likely this weekend to properly patch my DSDT and maybe even give the UD3P DSDT a stab while I'm at it. This does seem to be the ideal method to obtain oneness with a vanilla install. I believe this will also cure my bonjour problem as well once the DSDT has been properly patched for my system.

This is a good holdover until the devs wrap things up and I do a full-on, finished guide

Hopefully doing a ds3l as well???

The drivers are like 90%+ the same for the UD3P & DS3L. Audio is different, yeah. Haven't gotten to audio on the DS3L in Snow yet.

from what i have read you can do it with strings or dsdt. DSDT i think also requires hda voodoo thing.

Hmm can't find the thread with all the info but did find this.

Will the drivers for the UD3P work for the UD3R? I believe they are basically the same except the P has an extra pcie slot.

Which DS3L mobo do you have?

(And what are the rest of your specs?)

rev 2.0

Followed the guide except i restored to a partition and installed from that. But did use a usb to have the boot files on.

Sound not working but i found a thread on it. Lemme see if i can find it again.

And sleep not working prob needs same fix that leopard 10.5.8 needed. Just sleeps the monitor not computer. Thats why i lost the thread lol. Thought i would test sleep real quick.

This trhead seems to cover both sound and maybe sleep... sleepenabler.kext.

k got my sound working using this kext. http://www.insanelymac.com/for...iew=findpost&p=1254800

lemme know if that works for you, if not. Its because I also used a dsdt made by someone else with alc888-0 added to it. Which I tried first with reboot and it didnt work. I dont neeed that was neeeded i may even change back to the dsdt that was made with that installer and see if sound still works.

Now for sleep...

EDIT: Didnt need other dsdt, sound still works.

Makes me feel better that its not just me; The strange thing is it didn't do it for months, then all of a sudden it was all the time. I think it has something to do with being idle tbh. As now that I enabled the sshd server it seems to happen less.

Yeah the patcher for windows wouldnt compile... really got on my nerves.

Did you get sleep to work? I like the blackosx method too....

hmm i havent tried 32bit mode... maybe sleep works in 32 bit.

Just tried again for the acpi patcher and it failed... maybe im using the wrong bios file? I got the exe from gigabtye and extracted it to get p35ds3l.f7

maybe thats the wrong fiel?

stupid me... got the acpi finally to work.... gotta follow directions better

Well that self made dsdt did the trick... got sleep and sound now.

I followed blackosx guide mostly. Ditched the other method since this is more vanilla, 100 percent i guess.

Not sure about graphics i have 260gtx it seems ci/qe is enabled but im not sure about opencl. I used dsdt patcher and just put in my values and choice generic nvidia.

I found some strings methods and will use the dsdt without video and try strings later.

I found a clinfo tool and lists my video card but this benchmark doesnt work

The Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 is pretty dang good, from what I've read. There's a number of guides & installers floating around, although I don't think there's a boot disc for it yet.
