Let's get together on AIM this week and hash things out. You shouldn't be experiencing any lockups unless it's hardware-related.

It'll be hit or miss, especially Saturday, lots to do, Christmas shopping, family in, etc. I will try to be on late evening. I was half asleep last night when I did it, plus was advising another on what to do in the middle of everything. May try one more time to see if it was just me.

Eh, in that case just wait for the final release of the guide. It'll have a video tutorial along with it, should be pretty easy to follow

I told you I was half asleep. I had my Lyra wireless audio transmitter connected via USB when I was installing. Never had that on there before and the Lyra has caused me many headaches in the past. Did a fresh install this morning, without the Lyra, and everything went smooth as silk. So you were right, it was a hardware problem. Happy turkey day to all!

Just a message from Doug...

When I try using super duper to copy it over I get the following error:

Failed to Erase Hard Drive

Error Log:

| 04:40:40 PM | Error | 2008-11-26 16:40:40.963 SDDiskTool[247:10b] _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35

Could I just copy everything over by hand and then reapply chameleon?

Well just copied everything over by hand and reapplied chameleon. Then tried booting and it won't get past the "Press enter for Startup Options" screen. Everytime I press enter it just like refreshes.

Anyone have any luck with activating the Dell 1505 Wireless-N pci xpress card? I bought one, and my hackintosh doesn't recognize it.

I got that error when I was using SD with my 945 based Hack, I used Carbon Copy Cloner and then applied Chameleon to that and it worked fine. CCC is free also.

Can someone tell me what exactly the boot132 CD adds to the mix when it boots? I have a friend who could not get the ISO burned and tried to install with the old gerneric.iso cd. I know the boot132 cd adds something in there, but I can't remember what it is. Also suggestions on how to burn that ISO for him, I can't remember for sure how I burned mine, but I know it didn't work at first.

Hmm I think the Ethernet EFI String didn't get installed properly. I just did a fresh install and it's having other problem - won't boot after installing 10.5.5. Looks like it's a network-related error. Let's see about beta v2 hehe...

The one off ebay? Try moving it to a different PCI slot and rebooting. If that doesn't work, boot with -f. Let me know what happens.

BootCD = Linux Bootloader + Darwin (EFI) + Drivers (Kexts)

The Linux Bootloader lets it act as a bootloader for EFI, which tricks Leopard into letting it boot up and install. The drivers ensure that it can boot on your machine.

I used CCC to copy my boot drive to my Raptor, I then used Chameleon. When I boot it wouldn't get past the apple screen. So I booted with -v and get the following:

Here

Not sure if you can read it or not but it is something like

Kaido - I'm using the DS3R and followed your guide. Everything worked except for sound. This board has the ALC889A vs. the ALC888 that is on the DS3L. Any ideas on how to get the sound to work?

I'm not totally opposed to picking up a seperate sound card, but I need one with optical or digital coax output, and I haven't seen any that are confirmed to work.

by any chance does anyone know if the old adaptec firewire cards work? I'm inching closer to doing this, I just can't stomach the iMac all in one.. I love the design, but I just can't stomach having to spend so much to upgrade if my monitor is perfectly fine.

Audio works, you just need the 889 codec instead of the 888 codec. It's floating somewhere around the InsanelyMac forums. I'll ask around and see if I can snag it.

Kaido, have a friend who is having problems getting the 1 click to work. He gets this error everytime he runs it.

AppleScript Error

sh: /Users/peterhaas/Desktop/New: No such file or directory

He also cannot get his video to work right, he has a 7200 GS with 128 Mb and a 20 inch LCD monitor. Sometimes he gets a box to specify a resolution and sometimes he doesn't on the 1 click. This is all on his P35-DS3L system.

Stay tuned for Beta 2, several bugs have been fixed. I'll shoot you a copy when it's done.

In anticipation of your dual boot info, I would like to install Win Vista Ultimate x64. Mostly because it's a hassle now as I have Win XP Pro, but it doesn't support AHCI and I can't use my DVD burner unless I first disable AHCI in bios. I understand from this and other forums I've been reading that if Win Vista Ultimate x64 is installed with AHCI enabled it will be able to use it. If not it is a complicated procedure to alter the registry. Can anyone confirm this?

I can't be certain, but I would try dragging it over to the frog instead of the 888 codec.

Kaido, I got the Dell 1505 wireless off of Ebay as you suggested and still having problems after the initial boot with -f. It worked! BUT thereafter if I reboot the computer or turn it off, it disappears!. The only way is to boot each time with the -f flag. I've tried reinstalling OSX with the older and newer methods. Tried not installing the airport updates, but still the same thing. Any thoughts?

I"ve noticed my video goes wierd if ethernet is not plugged in. Thought I have seen some other posts about this as well. Is this usual with this install, or is there some work-around?

My Asus WL-138G V2 was similar. But after I reinstalled osx rather than hit all the updates at once and updated, i went through one by on updating the computer and then my card was fine, sounds stupid but it worked? before that I had updated with the newest airport + airport extreme updates and my card did the same thing (only working with -f flag).

I know in OSx86 tools I seen a setting somehow that you can add certain flags to your boot (so your boot-up will add the -f automatically), maybe you could try that. Otherwise re-install update to 10.5.5 then install the airport utility + airport extreme update separately one at a time.

889 doesn't need Taruga, you can use kexts. I'll start off with the 3 basic DS3L boards and then start adding plugins for more boards.
