Read the thread on Insanely about the firewire problem and decided to try removing the DSDT.AML file. Did so and now I have firewire once again. No other issues that I can tell so far, but I'm keeping an eye on it. Just thought you might like to know.

Yeah I've removed DSDT from the package. What a waste of time lol. Although we'll probably need it for the future or something

My advice, stick with 10.5.5. It's perfect. Snow Leopard is out soon (Q1 2009 according to reports), so I'd just hold off and enjoy the current iteration as-is, rather than upgrading to the somewhat buggy .6 release.

I'm not planning to update it yet, just curious if the issue is tied to FW as a whole or not. I'm REALLY hoping snow leopard doesn't break anything that isn't fixable, heh. I'll be awaiting the 10.6.1 release....

Hi Kaido,

I've been watching this thread for a few weeks and have successfully used the guide with an Asus P5W DH Deluxe board (just needed an additional driver for sound). Great Job!

I am planning to set up a new rig and was wondering if you have any up-to-date recommendations as far as hardware is concerned. The specs in the first post seem a bit outdated. I guess you are going to recommend components in your new guide, but with the recent release of 10.5.6 that might take a bit and I would love to start tinkering over Christmas.

Keep up the good work!

How did you go about doing this with a different mobo? Steps, if possible

I would love to re-install my flakey Intel Box DG31PR hack so it is more solid like my GA-P35-DS3L. (In fact, I would even replace with a different mAtx mobo if needed! Sadly for me, no mAtx options on Kaidos setup currently

Kaido,

Take your time, enjoy the holiday season and release the final package on Christmas I'm sure that would be the best gift some of us will get for Christmas... well at least me.

Was surprisingly easy actually.

I used the bios settings from this site:
http://lifehacker.com/348653/i...pc-no-hacking-required

I also found a sound driver for this board (can't exactly remember where but can dig deeper if anyone needs it).

Other than that, I followed Kaido's guide to the letter. I was a bit of a stab in the dark since it was not supposed to work with this board, but it worked nicely.

@ Kaido

Great to hear that. Please include the specs for your reference machines.

Thx

Got an SATA DVD Drive, and 2 1TB hard drives in today. Couple of questions. First is there anything I can turn off in my bios now that I have no IDE devices? With time machine I formatted both 1TB drives and then on the second one chose to use it as a backup drive. Now will it backup everything off my 150GB Raptor and then start backing up whatever is on my 1TB hard drive or what?

Yeah okay it's not going to kill me, it's just going to take a day longer. Why does everything take so dang long to do! lol.

I'll be firing up my UD3P this week after I get the 10.5.5 guide out.
Cool, yeah, I'm sticking with 10.5.5. If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it.

I look forward to see how your UD3P build goes- I'm going to be helping a friend build a UDP3-based Hackintosh over the holidays. Can't wait to get my hands on one of these!

I have my GA-945GCMX-S2 running nicely on 10.5.6 at the moment, used Kaido's original USB stick method for booting, works great and it's a mATX.

Qurazy, I got a preview copy of the guide today, I believe the only thing he has left to do is the Video and clean up a few parts of the guide then it should be out. Trust me though its worth the wait

Yeah, Kaido's guide is insane. It's more than I personally need, but I feel like I can give it to almost anyone on these forums and they can walk away with a hackintosh, haha.

I almost say we make it a wiki so we can have some communitive effort at updating the parts that 10.6 might break, heh
