I don't have that on UD3P, but I have that happen on my P35 board.

I'd rather have that than the "password thingee only comes up once you've logged in/out" bug.
(We've missed you around here, bigguy!)

Does anyone know a fool-proof way to upgrade from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6?
buy a real mac? I don't think it's possible to have a foolproof way. Hell, even the real macs had issues. Really, I've found the best thing is to break down and have an extra HDD lying around to test your setup.
I've come to the conclusion from this though that I don't think I can keep up w/ my hackintosh, it's gotten more frustrating than I have time to deal with =(

Did you install from HDD or DVD, scooter? Tracking this one last bug down

Okay, I'm done final testing, but I think the bug is simply this:
1. When you install Leopard from an existing OS X install (HDD-method, either with an ISO or DVD), it copies Leopard over with what we'll call "temporary permissions"
2. Those "temporary permissions" are initialized during Leopard setup
3. By installing a Combo Update & Drivers to a fresh Leopard install, pre-setup, you overwrite those "temporary permissions" and screw up the whole permissions system
4. This leads to oddball errors due to screwed up permissions (despite Repair Permissions), such as login bugs and screensaver bugs
The solution is simple: install Leopard via DVD or HDD, use a BootCD for initial setup, THEN install the Combo Update & drivers. Verifying it over the next couple of days to make sure it works.
scooter, if you have a spare drive and some free time, give this method a shot and let me know if it fixes your error!

Have you checked to make sure your HD is not on the list of bad drives from Seagate? I don't have a link, but you should be able to do a google for it.

i thought those were just the 1TB drives? This drive has had osx, vista, ubuntu on it. It just had ubuntu 8.10 working fine.
I am searching now on how to fix this. The repair in disk utility reports no errors. Partitioned as GUID.
Man this sucks, soon as they release 4870 support i can't install

ah thanks, it seems mine is not affected. Well at least when i put in my Serial number i get a blank page.
I did get leopard installed by enabling SATA Port0-1 Native mode in the bios. But i could not get the 4870 to work. I dont know why other people seem to work and some people have some problem as me.
Of course insanely mac is insanely slow. So no checking for updates right now

The bootloader doesn't copy over because it's not on the boot partition, it's on a hidden EFI partition. All you have to do is re-install it after cloning. You can use Uinstaller or the standalone package here: (just make sure to selected the newly-cloned drive as the target)
