If you mean sticking a CD/DVD into the optical drive and having it play then the answer is yes, mine works fine. And this is WITHOUT the audio cable connected from the audio port of the optical drive to the motherboard. HTH

Yup, both coaxial and toslink work, and 5.1 out works (make sure you set it in the software app you're using).

Overclocking worked! Took my 2.66 GHz Q9400 to 3.36 GHz with a minimal voltage boost! Very pleased so far.

Just picked up a q8200 for a sweet $100 at microcenter. Definitely going hackintosh. Processor is one of the new 45nm, with a 1333mhz fsb. Should I be going with GA-EP45T-UD3LR, so I can have ddr3 running in sync with the fsb? Will there be compatibility issues since this is a different board? Or should I stick to GA-EP45-UD3R and try to overclock some DDR2 to match the faster FSB? I've been out of the loop for awhile, so I'm not sure how hard it will be to get ddr2 1066 to 1333mhz.

You don't need to overclock DDR2. DDR2-800 is in sync with a 1600mhz FSB.

The temps on my 45nm E5200 are 21C, vs. 60C on my 65nm Q6600 @ 3ghz. Oye!

Does anyone have an answer to this?? I've looked around and haven't been able to find the answer. I only need CI/QE support in OSX, which doesn't take a beast of a video card. I only need high performance video for gaming, which will be done only in windows. If i can use 2 cards, seems like the ideal solution.

Any recipes for a cheap hackintosh mini?

After the success of my tower build, I'm looking to put together something that can handle basic browsing, word processing, Netflix, Hulu, etc. This will be attached to an LCD TV in our kitchen and take the place of the broken-screen G4/1.25 AluBook that is in there now (that cannot handle Hulu or HD Youtube at all).

Since Mac Minis can be had for the $400's now (older C2D models), I'd like to see if I can put something together for $250 or less. The last time I asked this, the issue of the new Ion boards came up. Any new progress on this front? Any new info in general?

Thanks.

Hey,
I am new here.
Just put together my box, it's based on a DS3L and a Q6660. I set up the BIOS according to your guide and the BIOS Version is 8f.
Now, I own a MacBook Po. I used Carbon Copy Cloner and cloned the HD of it to a new SATA Harddrive, afterwards I installed the Soup Kit on this HD.
After installing the machine to the wannabe Hackint0sh and booting up, I get an Error the like of "No HPETs available..." and it's coming from
\n"@/SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement-59.0.1/pmThread.c:149
the extension is com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement(59.0.1)

I can't install from DVD because I only have an IDE Optical Drive
Any clues?

Great package btw

The problem is that the GMA950 is kind of crummy. Everyone is waiting to see if the ION will fly with Hackintosh or not. The first ION system was just announced this week (with a single-core Atom), so hopefully we should start seeing more soon.

I've heard the Wind PC works well ($150).

2. Buy a SATA DVD drive

I have successfully installed on a DVDless system using a USB DVD drive. Just have to remember to make sure it will boot from the USB drive. HTH

Is there any indication that 10.5.7 will break things when it is released. Wondering if anyone here has heard from those developers who have access to the beta seeds.

Yah USB DVD drives should work fine.

Gymnae, do you have a Retail Leopard disc, or just a Leopard disc for your Macbook? There's a difference - you'll have problems if you use a Leopard for Macbook disc.

It is retail, I had to buy it - the same that is going to happen with Snow Leopard.
You could use an Upgrade disc, because there is a way to trick to install on a blank HD as it contains the complete System...

Thanks for your support so far
