As I recall, I believe the audio needs an EFI string applied along with the graphics and Ethernet. Azalia perhaps? I know the audio is ALC883. From previous builds, I recall there's a Taruga patch for ALC883 that I used to use- but I didn't with this current build.

By the way, digital optical audio is supposed to work with this board using SPDIF- I can't confirm because mine is merely using the line out.

Desktop- of course, don't boot multiple OS's from a single drive- use 2. (Multiple installs of OSX- like a backup/beater install work great from the same drive + multiple partitions though.)

Laptop- usually not much choice but to dual boot from a single drive.

Does anyone have a working driver for the ATI 1900XT? Got my 2600XT up and running, trying to get the 1900XT up as well!

I used the JCCool Installer to install my 1900XT.

http://jccooldonations.50webs.com/jccool.html

Yeah I tried his, just got text on boot instead of video. Which installer specifically did you use out of those options?

X1900XT Progress Notes: (Jccool method)
X1900 XT EFI VGA Installer 0.1.pkg (7249) = no QE/CI
P35/G33 for 10.5.3 - EFI = text (no GUI)
P35/G33 for 10.5.3 - Injector = no QE/CI
P35/G33 for 10.5.3 - P355 G33 EFI = "VESA" mode only
No driver = garbled screen

Nada on the Natit-auto either:

http://www.insanelymac.com/for...ex.php?showtopic=33007

Update 1: 0.1 works now, weird! It's on a second install, I wanted to try adding the card's device ID to ATIRadeonX1000.kext, but it works fine now - perhaps the 2600XT drivers from earlier borked it? Gonna try a fresh install and see how it goes from scratch...

Update 2: X1900XT appears to be supported by Leopard install disc? Never come across an ATI card that was bootable...nice!

Update 3: Yup confirmed, the 0.1 Jccool driver does work - it was a driver conflict with the previously-installed 2600XT drivers for some reason.

Testing is done, plugins are done, kit is done, wiki entry added, all that's left is getting the audio working and typing up the instructions

Beast of a board for $53!

Status Update:

ATI X1900XT works
ATI HD 2600XT works

Both cards work with the Apple DVI to Video adapter ($19).
Both cards support S-Video output and Composite output using the $19 Apple adapter.

Working on a detailed post with drivers & instructions

(this is useful if (1) you want to hook your Hack up to an old TV, or (2) you want an old TV to use for previewing footage for Video Editing)

Does natit not work? I can make a X1900XTX work just by throwing that in.

Which Natit do you use? I used Natit-auto. I ended up getting Jccool's installer to work, the one that tbooth posted. Turns out my 2600XT driver was conflicting; a fresh install of OS X fixed the problem and it's running just peachy now!

FYI, Motherboard RAID does NOT work. No drivers for it.

If you want RAID, you either need to use Apple RAID (which is very good) or get a Mac-compatible Hardware RAID card like a HighPoint or Areca card.

Trying to order parts for my first hackintosh build. The price of the G31M is going to let me pull the trigger earlier than expected. Can somebody recommend an inexpensive video card that's readily available and known to work with a hackintosh? thanks in advance

btw: is it necessary to match the voltage of the memory to that of the board? the board calls for 1.8 V DDR2 800, when you shop for memory the voltages range from 1.6-2.1V.

SO I guess I will start looking for a Raptor lol. Cheapest and fastest way to make it a little faster.

I need some insight from you guys. I'm waiting anxiously on Kaido to put up the tutorial and parts list for the media center he is working on. Looking at his Twitter updates, it seems he'll be using the 2600XT ($99 at newegg) for the graphic card. I was just at slickdeals and ran across this.

It's a Radeon HD 4850 for $86 with FREE Shipping. My limited knowledge tells me this one is a better deal than the 2600XT even though it doesn't have S-Video and composite which I really don't have a need for. Am I safe in my assumptions?

Whatever came with iDeneb 10.5.6. I'm presuming it's the original one, but I guess there's no way to tell.

Here's my growing list of cards we KNOW will work or not:

http://leopardsoup.pbworks.com/videocards

The only reason I got the 2600XT is because my bedroom TV only has S-Video input, not a newer digital format like HDMI. If you have a digital TV (VGA/DVI/HDMI), you can use any supported card you want.

As far as the ATI 4850, officially they're not supported until 10.5.7 (which might be out Friday?) so if I were you I might hold off - I've read of some bugs regarding installating the 4000-series cards on 10.5.6. However, if you can find a good install guide that has good results, then by all means go for it!

Yeah, great drive. VERY snappy. Best thing to get for speed next to an SSD. Keep in mind they are a bit noisy (like old-school hard drive click-click-click noisy), but if sound doesn't bother you or you have a pretty soundproof case then it's no big deal. I work in a quiet environment and the Raptor was driving me a wee bit mad, so I switched it up with a Samsung F1 1TB hard drive (about 90-95% as fast, but completely silent).

The Nvidia 7300GT video card works great (1080p-capable) and is $26.99 at Geeks.com: (one DVI, one VGA)

http://www.geeks.com/details.a...FPX73GDHU2256M&cpc=SCH

Regarding the memory voltage, I don't know for sure. Here's the memory I got, which works great:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231111

It says it's 1.8V - 1.9V. Since the board can only take a max of 4GB RAM (2x2GB), it's only going to be a +/- $10 difference in the low-end RAM anyway, so not a real big deal (vs. say the $19 sticks). Better safe than sorry, I guess?

When you get a chance, zip up a copy and throw it up on MediaFire. I'll give it a shot on my X1900XT rig

You'd think this is a no brainer right ? I'm looking at this one in particular

Afaik, Mac cards do not work in PC computers unless they are PC/Mac cards. Otherwise they just have a Mac-only Video BIOS.

Local buddy ordered a G31M, so I'll have a chance to test my new kit this weekend!

We should start a Hackintosh User Group, haha. How's NEHUG sound? (New England Hackintosh User Group)
