Any chance that guide is out tonight, or if not, if I can test the package in advance?

This one doesn't work either, the link for the most importand file says file not found!

That's thanks to Intel's website being a wretched POS to find anything on.

The 32-bit Floppy Config file needed for that guide is here.

Keep in mind what sjwaste said about changing lines- this is a newer version of the file than used for the guide, so the line to be changed reads ICH8R, not what's listed in the guide.

By the way, one does need to have this even if XP is installed on an IDE drive and you need it to read SATA drives. It will throw up an error trying to read SATA HDs if AHCI is turned on in the BIOS and this patch isn't in place.

Also, if all else fails, there is *shudder* the way this is actually supposed to be done!

I don't get any error at all, the SATA drives, including my DVD burner, just don't show up unless I disable AHCI in bios. My XP Pro is in fact installed on an IDE drive. Thanks for the updated link, I may get time this weekend to see if I can make XP AHCI aware.

Hi Kaido.

First off, thanks for all the work your putting into this. It makes it so much easier to understand... so it's that much more fun to try.

The final part for my hackintosh was delivered today so when I get home from work I'll be putting it together.

Is there any reason not to use the zip package that you have a link to on page 24 of this thread? It's the last link you posted before you started the 1 click application. I know it won't have the 1 click installer but that doesn't really matter to me. I would be interested in testing the final package if you're still giving out early releases.

Thanks again!

Hey Kaido, just a quick note, I went back and tried the 11-30-08 package again, this time with only the KB and mouse hooked up to USB. Also did the install as it is listed in the 1 click readme file. Everything went smooth as silk, very nice. Just thought you would like to know.

Almost done with the final package, if there are any early adopters who want a copy just with the Checklist LMK

Ahhhhh scratch the copy! Big news! Got ahold of a copy of PC EFI v9 WITH CHAMELEON!!!

Doing a big rewrite & lots of testing. This will push the release date back a bit, but it will be worth it because it supports SNOW LEOPARD!

Also the modified kexts are moved to the \Extras folder on the root drive, which means you can restore FROM a REAL MAC and TO a REAL MAC

Stay tuned!!!

Happy to report I got my Hackintosh up and running! I have a Geforce 8600GT, which for those who don't know, there is a slight modification to Kaido's install instructions on the first page of this thread. Please reference his post on 11/7 of this thread for the updated instructions.

2. Install PC EFI v9 Chameleon bootloader
3. Install Universal OSx86 Installer
