And I can confirm it works great. Awesome to now be fully updated with 10.5.6 and have audio working (as audio just did not work at all for me in 10.5.6.

Awesome! Be careful of which you buy - one of my eBay sticks doesn't allow keyboard or system volume control, it acts like a line-out instead of a speaker or headphone jack with adujustable volume. The Syba from Newegg does allow for software volume control.

Now that you said that I just checked volume control on my apple keyboard and it looks as though it works on the screen although the sound doesn't actually get quieter - stays the same volume unless you go to zero or press the mute button then it mutes.

Hmmm .. I am not sure if it can be fixed? but it isnt too much of a biggy I got my sound control for my system below my monitor within arm reach so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

No, it's a hardware thing. I think I have that same sound stick from eBay. It's like digital...sound adjustment doesn't actually work because it's a line-out function, not a volume adjustment function. Not a big deal, but I usually use headphones so volume control is a must

Can you verify if this card will work?

Thanks

I believe that's the card I have in my rig right now. I even got my rebate already. Works like a charm.

(Right, Kaido?)

Yeah should be just fine.

I'll release the Wiki this week, just taking me some time to get the 60+ page guide ported over. I have an email box where you can send me what hardware you're running so I can add it to the HCL (Hardware Compatibility List). We'll roll our own hardware list for everyone to reference

Hey Kaido, have you tried to hack the mobo from your blog yet? The GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 9400 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. I've been thinking about buying one, but I'm just not sure. Just curious.

Soundsource is a really useful utility. Thanks so much for including it in the kit, Kaido.

I'm having some trouble getting to work on multiple user accounts (just does not show up on any other accounts). Anyone else see this?

Hey anyone that is having trouble with audio in 10.5.6 here is what I did.

Install 10.5.6
Delete dsdt.aml if you haven't already
Reboot
Install Taruga
Reboot
If you don't have audio now then go to system preferences>sound>output and change it from headphones to line out

Still debating whether or not to upgrade to 10.5.6. Don't really want to have to bother with a soundstick, and I certainly don't want to bork my install and/or lose my data (and ruin all the hand-holding Kaido did )

But there are some features that look like they might be nice.

More interestingly, anyone know why all the sudden I can't get a password when I wake from screensaver/sleep? I've got it set up to disable automatic logins, and the box is checked to require password when woken. Still, no login. It was working before (also, my Connect360 isn't working either, and that was working too. But that's all another thread for another time...the only thing I think is different is I installed -- and then removed -- little snitch).

I believe the only reason that people used soundsticks were because they didn't check to see if their output got changed from line out to headphones. I tried it on my backup drive and it works perfect then about an hour ago I installed it on my live drive and I haven't seen any problems except for having to change headphones to line out the first time. I am going to install .6 on my girlfriends computer tomorrow to see what happens and I will report back here with the results.

Huh. I'd feel better if I had a backup drive to, uh, backup everything to. Anyone want to tell me why I didn't get that $65 WD 640 black? Sheesh. I even have a spiffy enclosure for it!

But let me know how it all works out. I'd like to update. And, of course, to know why my password window isn't working out of Screensaver.

Hi all.

Just wondering if I have an IDE dvd drive connected to the computer although turn off IDE in the BIOS settings will i run into any errors in osx? It is an SH-D162D anyone familiar with backing up xbox games will be familiar with it. I want to have it connected via IDE so when i occassionally back up games I can enable IDE in bios and boot into windows and save the hassle of using an external enclosure which I constantly switch my IDE hard drives and DVD drive with.

I have an IDE storage drive on my EP45 based system running at all times. Hasn't caused me any problems whatsoever. I guess I missed it, what exact problem is IDE supposed to cause on the P35 boards?

Thanks Leglez - what you said about choosing line out worked. Got audio working now got the usb audio for backup i guess now anyway.

@ Zaap - I had HEAPS of issues of my whole system freezing, vmware would lock up and the whole system basically unstable with IDE connected - as soon as i disconnected my IDE drive i haven't had an issue since - works like a real mac now and has not frozen or gave me an error once.
I am just wondering by having an IDE dvd drive connected to the motherboard although disable IDE in BIOS if osx still runs fine - i guess i will just have to test it otherwise. I dont mind having to change IDE to enable to use it as I dont backup games often and it is the only reason I use windows for.

Putting together the 2.0 guide. Any special requests? Anything I should add about the DS3L?

The Wiki will basically consist of:

-Hardware info (selection, recipes with links, installation methods)
-Leopard installation (a few different methods using BOOT-132)
-System configuration notes
-Downloads (small Windows package with ImgBurn, BootCD, and Memtest86+, a Mac package, an "Extras" kit with more useful apps, and Software Starter Kits)
-Video tutorials

Hi Kaido. I am starting on tuesday with putting my Hackintosh together. A little delayed due to availability problems. Have everything ready and fully prepared by then but since you also mentioned video tutorials and dif methods using boot 132 I would like to wait untill your wiki is ready. So.... when do you expect to have it ready?

Upgrade guide?

This thread has gotten a bit confusing...I'm not even sure where my install rates as far as methods go. So it might be good to start a new one.

If it isn't out by Tuesday I would suggest going ahead and trying it unless you just want the videos for some reassurance. The current method works perfect, as far as I understand the only thing really new that the updated guide will have is 10.5.6 instead of 10.5.5. But as far as that goes just don't install dsdt.aml and install .6 isntead of .5.
