I can't find a source for those except in Australia- or if from the states, they want twice as much.

I was trying to check insanelymac where I read about it working, but the whole site seems to be down right now.

Keep us posted!

Evidently their monkeys are on strike! It's been down for awhile now as I tried early yesterday to get on.:frown:

I have the G31M-ES2L up and running, but there are two problems I'm encountering. When I grab a window to move it the screen doesn't seem to update, and when scrolling in a web browser window only part of the window scrolls and after scrolling for a couple of seconds the whole window becomes jumbled. I looked at the displays system preference and there's only 1 resolution available (1024x768). When I used Uinstaller I choose the Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT, but I'm wondering if maybe something didn't get installed.

Thanks

It sounds like the drivers weren't installed properly. First, make sure that you have selected your Boot Drive as the target to install to. Second, check everything except the last box (custom kexts). This includes Kexts, Mkext, Boot Timeout, Native Boot Resolution, PC_EFI v9 Chameleon, Ethernet EFI String, and Video Card (set the Video Card to 7300GT). Apply, wait for it to say finished, then reboot!

Thanks! I reinstalled and the scrolling seems to be fixed. The sound shows up as either headphones or line out in the control panel (is this expected, or should it automatically detect headphones connected to the front/default to line out?).. Defaulting to the line out and auto detecting headphones would be preferred.

This is great! Thanks to Kaido and mosslack!

One thing I've noticed is a hum when the speakers are plug into anything (line out on back, headphones on front, AND USB). Any ideas?

The first time after you install the drivers, it usually selects headphones. Just select Line Out and it will stick that way. You can use the front audio jack on your case (if it has one) by connecting the HDaudio jack to the pins on the motherboard to get that functionality. Also here's a nice little app for quickly switching audio output & volume from the menubar called SoundSource: (scroll down)

If it's doing it on both onboard audio AND on USB audio, then it's most likely a problem with your speakers. Are they plugged into a power strip? Same one your computer is?

They're connected to the same plug-in power surge outlet. That's how it was on the previous mac mini with no hum. When I unplug the cable to the speaker jack, the hum goes away; when I plug it in the hum comes back. I'll plug the speakers into the other recptacle (not on the power surge plug) and try that.

I guess I was a little optimistic. After about 10 minutes I noticed the hum again. Hmmm. Up till now the speakers were always good. Is there some kind of shielding of the wires that I can do?

Could the ASUS P5N7A-VM become a veritable Mac mini? killer?!

Wow! If that includes working on-board digital audio + dvi + networking, that is quite a package. The insanelymac thread looks a bit bleeding-edge right now, a bit scary. Let us know how it goes if you go for it.

@Kaido

Just got my ES2L system up and running (Ubuntu livedisc... haven't attempted Leo install yet). You got an ETA on your ES2L guide? If you're close to posting it I'll hold on and have a look at it instead of stumbling in the dark.

Hack up and running Man is this _sweet_. ES2L board, no problems installing 10.5.6, then installing 10.5.7 combo. UInstaller to install Kaido's mobo kit and Chameleon, and to specify vid card and resolution.
Thanks for the kit, Kaido!

Issues:
No audio even though I installed the kit. Will take a look tomorrow.
Slight video ghosting. Anybody else experienced this? May just be my cheap-ass monitor

Hopefully today, I'm getting out of work a bit late but I'm hammering on it!

1. Make sure audio is enabled in BIOS
2. Verify that ALCinject & AppleHDA kexts are in /System/Library/Extensions
3. Check to see if audio is pointed to Line Out in System Preferences > Sound

I did a fresh install with the ES2L Kit using a 10.5.6 disc, updated to 10.5.7, and then installed the kit, works great! I think it defaulted to "Headphone" output instead of Line Output though, so you'll need to switch it manually in System Preferences.

Yeah I thought I mentioned that, but perhaps not. Been a million miles away in my mind lately. Too many things going on and not enough time, yada, yada, yada...

I saw a thread showing that some versions of torrented Windows 7 RC1 had a built in trojan/backdoor, what are the chances for it to happen with modified ktexts? How long would it take people to find out?

Blasted interruptions! I'll never meet my self-imposed deadlines  I have extended family in-town, going to be AFK for a few days. In the meantime, here's the new UD3P Kit:

http://leopardsoup.pbworks.com/ud3p_v10

I'll try to post the DS3L & ES2L 10.5.7 kits tomorrow morning.

I'd like to know how to upgrade from 10.5.5 (USB stick method) to 10.5.7. I don't want to brick my system. Booo
