She was almost 14 years old and has had a number of medical problems, doc thinks it may have been liver cancer. She lost a ton of weight, couldn't get up on her own anymore, she was just skin and bones. Poor girl. My wife and I took her to the Vet today and stayed with her during her final moments. We've had her since she was 4 months old.

RIP Shelby...I miss you. :'(

So sorry for your loss, Shelby looks just like our Chloe, she is going on 16 and face is all white. She is slowing down quite a bit too.

Yesterday was a bad day for dogs. Had to put down the landlady's old dog Lena, she was such a sweet dog too. Old age got her as well. They came down and let me carry her and say Goodbye.

We still have 2 beagles rescued from a New Jersey puppy mill and an old dog that was picked up off the streets of Philadelphia. I have no doubt at some point we will get another. We always urge anyone that asks us about getting a dog to please consider shelters and rescue organizations. Sadly there are far too may abandoned dogs and cats looking for "forever homes".

My father is a very strong and proud man. When our dog Angel passed away 6 years ago, he cried alot. It is very saddening to loose someone so close and so loyal to you. I am sorry for your loss ;(

So sad that our beloved pets have only a fraction of the lifespans we do. Why does nature have to be so cruel?

I've always thought it would be interesting to have a Macaw parrot, with their 60+ year lifespans. Though, of course not quite the same as a dog or a cat.

I'm certainly not looking forward to the day when my kitty passes. She's only 6, but it still makes me tear up just thinking about it.

brought a tear to my eye. never easy losing a pet. the other night i went to my pet graveyard and paid a visit. never easy.
