United States Navy California / Sidewinder Missile Development Team (02/15/2003)

I guess they are making a new missle called the Sidewinder, and it is being developed on one of these computers. Wild stuff.

There is a sidewinder missile development team. At NAVAIR China Lake, CA. Missile is up to AIM-9X version.

The sidewinder is the primary Air-to-Air missile for the F/A-18 and has been since its inception. In case anyone is wondering AIM stands for Air Intercept Missile.

Its not simply a missle bolted to an F/A-18... the AIM-9 Sidewinder has been around since 1953, entering Air Force inventory in 1956, and downing its first plane in 1958. Its used in the US Air Force, Navy, and Marines, as well as just about every US ally. Its still in use today, in a few variants, and the new AIM-9X is to enter full service this year, to be used with all F/A-18 variants, F-15, F-16, F-22, and JSF. The beauty of the intenet! Link

Also, while the Naval Weapons Center DOES has 2 R&D facilities in California, somehow I doubt they are buying computers from some unknown dude off the internet, when they will need FAR more capacity than any non name could offer for any type of advanced research. I doubt Mikey has access to advanced cluster systems, which is only the start of what they would need.

This is pretty funny actually...

the things people claim.

it upsets me that while here I am at 17, I am trying hard to get my name out in the public that I build quality good-performing computers with better specs than similarly priced Dells...yet heres this jerktard fatty with his crappy black-and-white website that looks like it was scanned out of the community classifieds...

I try hard, I really do.

I plan on creating a full-blown thread about this in a few months when Im coming right up on the asscrack of college (Im a HS senior right now), but I have been building computers for a while now, Ive probably done about 20 people or so and they all have been very impressed with my work and many of these customers are referrals from other customers. Anyway, when I look around it seems like a lot of people on AT, people who leave reviews on Newegg, etc, do the same type of thing. My question is this: I would really like to run a business designing and building custom computers for people but is there any place for me? Is it worth the time and energy? I could handle it on the business end, its a matter of unobtainable dreams vs realistic ones. thanks guys, i hope to hear some good advice from you, my peers and my teachers.

Another great quote for Michael;

Q: When a client says ?I have never heard of you"

First of all, they have never looked or done their research for who is the fastest online. Secondly, if your here reading this, then obviously now you have. Many countless reviews and discussions are made by others daily on Michael's Computers. When large clients like the US Navy, Disney, US Air Force, Boeing, and the US Marine Corps use us, we obtain many referrals and wonderful testimonies.

I can't believe no one has driven by this place to see if it really exists. I bet this is run out of someone's hut on a nice Caribbean island. Anyone check the Better Business Bureau in California?

Call me "Low Challenged," but if I had invented my own TXK Hyperdrives I would not be assembling computers. I would have patented the technology and bought my own island by now.

Hi... my first post.. woohoo

anyhow, I wanted to hop in on this one becuase this is kinda up my alley.

Well I was interested if this "business" really exists and if it does just how angry people are at it }

First I did a whois here, then i crosschecked it with switchboard. Bingo! Match on the man, well at least the address and name. Then I ran it throght the BBB not an exact match,but close... so it could be a legit business and not just a project

So far I've found that if it does indeed exist then he has moved it at least 3 times within the past 7 years (not TOO bad), but the slightly more interesting thing is that the BBB has had some complaints and at least one unresolved. Don't you just love the internet I hoped this solved (or sparked) a little curiosity in a few of you.

P.S. If you would like more direct links and the are OK to post I will...

My intent was purely sarcastic when I posted this information. If you read through the so called "buyer reviews" they all sound almost exactly the same, save for the supposed person who wrote them. They all follow the same "I've tried the rest, this computer is sooo fast, everyone is jealous of me, your the best" format. Each is signed by a different person with some position of merit. I found it funny that he used the sidewinder instead of something newer, with maybe a little more wow factor like the f-22, etc.
