Usually, what an article titled "Scientists discover......." quotes research from peer-reviewd sources. But this is what conservative thinktanks consider science. Hmm, lets invite every scientists in the world that agrees with our POLITICAL agenda, then we can proclaim that SCIENTISTS PROVED/DISPROVED XYZ.


As a scientist, I see this trend of politicizing science to be VERY DANGEROUS.

What the public needs to understand is the individual and collective meaning of "scientists" vs "Scientists" . "scientists" can be considered any group of scientist, whether they are nobel laureates or a bunch of nutjobs. "Scientists" is the collective term representing the current consensus of the scientific community, which is subjected to a much more stringent scrutiny.

You talk as if this is something new? I can't comment on the validity of this research, but saying hypothetically it is pure politics it is no worse than their counterpart on the left.

When it comes to politics, I am NOT a conservative. BUT, global warming is not a clear cut thing. I think we've been fed a lot of "unquestionable" teachings growing up, with out actually figuring things out for ourselves. After all, we are in an interglacial period.

I like how people assume that the world's climate should be in perfect balance all the time, so that any change is human-induced. So, human's Can and have changed the Earth's climate, but any change isn't simply because of humans.

Hmm, research funding from NSF, NIH and other government SCIENCE agencies is a very non-political process. Have you ever seen a research grant proposal to these agencies? However, some individual scientists go straight to the congress for direct funding. This latter route is frowned upon by the government agencies and the scientific community since it bypasses the peer review process. They may be personal politics involved at some specified field depending on who's reviewing the proposals. But they are never party-politics.
