But Obama saying the USA will give a 100 million in relief is a joke. The last hurracain did 1 billion in damage nothing compared to this.

What A about France , It took 120 years for haite to pay them for their freedom is France going to step up. I hope so but it will just be a token just as the Obama promise of a 100 million in aid just a token .

we don't have the 100 mil he promised already. so now what, we have print more money just to sustain haiti

yes its a huge tradgedy and I feel awful for them.

but we are flat ass broke and already cant afford as a government to spend a dime on this stuff, let alone the 100 mil promised.

its the worst time EVER to have that happen to anyone and as everyone else is also broke as hell

What it needs I think is air drops on clean bottled water alone. That would slow down the suffering.

Are you kidding??? Do you actually think that water will make it to the victims?

Street gangs and thugs were rampant in that area before the quake and don't give a rat's ass about any of the victims' suffering...I guarantee you that they would end up with most of that water...

Try not to wear your heart on your sleeves you got boogers on those. Put it back were it belongs inside. Whats a 100 million in the scheme of things . I fear when tragedy comes to you . you may get the same response you have given , Consider yourself lucky I do not sit in judgment or you be gone already.

oh, so not being super willing to throw every resource possible at every problem in the world now makes me a bad person

your wearing your heart on your sleeve comment is nonsensical.

I have insurance for tradegy so i wont be asking you for $$ anyways dude
(yes I understand that country cant insurnace its not meant to relate to haiti).

I agree with specoop thats its poor thinking to just say well who cares if we dont have the money SPEND SPEND SPEND anyways. thats how we got into the mess that makes giving them money a huge strain in the first place.

You know, wheres Hugo? That guy likes to talk shit all the time I dont see him ponying up. Oh thats right.

The world, as usual, like to talk shit about America and blame all the problems on us. However, when a country actually needs help who rides to the rescue? America.

I think I stated this in an earlier post in this very thread. How as an American I'm tired of being brow beaten for all the problems of the world, and then being guilted into helping every poor, cold and hungry person.

Fuck it. Let someone else send a carrier group. Let another country send 100 million in aid. Let another country take some refugees. The world wants to point the finger at America well i say its high time we wave goodbye to the world and let them handle their own damn problems.

That's probably because you cling to preconceived notions and don't really make an effort to educate yourself. Hey look, less than one minute spent looking and guess what, here's that Hugo ponying up... http://www.venezuelanalysis.com/news/5067

From the article:
"Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ordered the immediate deployment of the aid team on Tuesday comprised of doctors, engineers, search and rescue specialists, and civil protection officers, as well as urgently needed food, water, medical supplies, and rescue equipment. Chavez said Venezuela would send further aid and supplies."

I think it would be a great idea for you to wave goodbye to the world. All you do is make conservatives look like detached, self-absorbed pricks.
If Mexico can react with humanitarian aid, well shit we should be able to as well. How about you spare us the tired American speech and just crawl back into your hole?

Be careful, the Mutton heads like Spec Op will call you a Chavez sympathizer for posting that.

BTW Venezuela was hit with a 5.7 Earthquake today, no reports of any damage yet.

With all the jockeying over aid, I am curious what you all feel is a proper price tag to our assistance. I’m having a hard time coming up with one myself. In light of our current financial disaster it is a terrible thing to put a price on human life and suffering in the aftermath of a disaster. Though it may be necessary now more than ever.

I’d spend whatever it takes in the short term. I feel the government has a proper role to act as a safety net in the event of such crisis - though I would be vehemently opposed to the notion of turning Haiti into the 51st state. My only stipulation is that our involvement is short lived and only pertaining to the immediate crisis. They need food and water, I think we can provide that.

There is nothing in the Constitution about charity - not even for American citizens much less for foreigners. Louisiana's local and state governments were totally incompetent, before, during and after Katrina. Democrats wouldn't ya know... Charity, as far as the fed gov't should be concerned, is a private/church or state/local issue if those folks wanted their gov'ts to do it. Of course, our fed. gov't has been doing unConstitutional things for years and not enough are even aware of it, much less care about it. Obama and his crew of thugs have just wildly increased the unConstitutionality.

Whether we are forced into this Union is another matter.

Are you suggesting that we may not volunteer our government's large infrastructure for good and charitable deeds?

A cargo plane.... Well, he went all out now didnt he. Might as well turn our carrier group home and withdraw the 100 million.

No, I make Americans look like we're tired of constantly being attacked for not doing enough, not giving enough, not supporting enough all the while having to deal with the world blaming us for everything.

If every morning you blamed your neighbor for you being laid off and ridiculed your neighbor, dont be surprised if he doesnt roll out the welcome mat when your house catches on fire......

You know, you could have done the mature thing and at least said something to the effect of "Doh, didn't see that, my bad.." before continuing your pity party, but instead you're just going to continue the brainless troll routine, cherry-pick what has been provided for you, and generally pretend that Chavez is going to adhere to your biased views of him?
Egads man, are you really this pathetic? I bet it really burned you up when Chavez had Citgo donate free heating oil to families in need up here in New England, huh?

You know what, screw it, I'm done with you, welcome to my Ignore list fvcktard.

And this really just proves my point. Interesting. The world sends a pittance and we should applaud them, America bends over backwards and we should accuse them of still not doing enough.

This exactly proves my point.

I-10 from Baton Rouge was fine.

Lake Ponchartraiin bridge survived and was open for Emergency traffic.

So only 1 of 3 major road arteries was down.

Please state only facts, not fiction.

Thank you. I-59 was blocked, but people were out clearing roads and doing civilian patrols looking to help people (mostly) once the storm let up.

Well at least somebody is making money off of this tragedy

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/14/as-wallets-open-for-haiti_n_423238.html

This should make you happy you heartless little man.

Thats cuts me to the bone Red. Why would you ever begin to assume I'm heartless. I dont wish suffering on any man, except that son of a bitch who cut me off in traffic. Just because I dont jump to save every charity case on the planet is no reason to assume I'm heartless.

You don't understand the constitution.

Might want to review the rights of Congress to spend. And the long history of how they have.

But at least you nailed the Democrats. Like the long-time Republican who switched to Democrats when iit expedient. Or the Republicans you left out of your comment.
