oh no need to say thxs heres a good link!

GeForce2 MX 248531 (28.6%)
Radeon 27851 (3.2%)

i use nvidia hehh. Im going to get another card soon not sure by who but i play half life but quake3 is my main game.

notice how there isn't even a radeon 7500 listed, or an 8500, or ANYTHING geforce 4 (Ti or MX). Heck, it didn't even list an 845G chipset choice. That survey is old buddy, and thus is not a good source of info.

well u can see nvidia is in the lead than. AS you install the game it takes that info and you can click yes or no if your up to get your pc surveyed. Your right the new ones arent listed.

Integrated graphics rule the market, people.
Errrr no. They rule the PC market (every PC obviously needs a VGA adapter), but they certainly don't rule the PC Gaming market. Those who buy a PC with an integrated chipset quickly find themselves at Best Buy looking for an AIB that meets minimum game specs. Don't believe me? Look at the label of the last 5 games you purchased and read off the "supported chipsets". Or better yet, open up a read.me file (I guess I'm the only one that bothers to read them anymore) from your last 5 games and see if you see an in integrated Intel GPU in there. I happen to have BF1942 RR and FreeLancer handy (which aren't even the most system-stressing games on the market). The oldest GPUs supported by BF are the original Radeon and GeForce 256; FreeLancer specifically lists non-support and/or issues with every Intel chipset. Sure, you might be able to run the game, but folks with integrated GPUs certainly aren't the target market.

Here's a quick and dirty GPU rundown from Futuremark from ORB submissions in December 2002 and a related article from Bjorn3D on gaming rig requirements..

  1. NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (19671) (23%)

    ATI RADEON 9700/9500 Series (8446) (10%)

    NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 (7358) (8%)

    ATI RADEON 8500/LE (6648) (8%)

    NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 (5735) (7%)

    NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 (5535) (6%)

    NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (5227) (6%)

    NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400 (4670) (5%)

    NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/Pro/Ti (4265) (5%)

    ATI RADEON 9000 (3395) (4%)

    NVIDIA GeForce3 (2328) (3%)

    ATI RADEON 7500 (1596) (2%)

    NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 (1461) (2%)

    NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 (1297) (1%)

    ATI RADEON DDR (981) (1%)

    NVIDIA TNT2 m64 (927) (1%)

    NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 (803) (1%)

    ATI RADEON VE (644) (1%)

    NVIDIA GeForce DDR (439) (1%)

    NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 460 (381) (0%)

The results may favor the enthusiast market, but the reality is that anyone interested in PC Gaming today owns one of the cards listed above, will own one if they don't, or will not be playing new PC games in the future.

Insiders suggest exclusivity deal.

We can reveal that Valve is currently looking at making its massively anticipated FPS sequel Half-Life 2 exclusive to nVidia graphics cards, in what will be the first deal of its kind in the PC gaming sector.

This massive story comes from insiders at nVidia, who are boasting that this will be the first of many such deals for exclusive content, bespoke to its cards.

We have been aware for some time that both ATi and nVidia have been courting the publishers and developers of AAA PC games, trying to gain card-exclusivity.

?You will see a massive change in the structure of the PC games industry in the next few months, with the first batch of announcements hitting at E3,? one insider told us. ?Instead of being referred to as PC gaming, you will become an nVidia or ATi gamer, as distinct as Sony and Nintendo.?

This concept has been circulating for some time, with gossip about graphics cards overshadowing next-gen console talk at the recent Game Developer?s Conference.

Remember where you read this first, and expect confirmation at this May?s E3.

I can see Chizow drooling at the possibility from here!
If that happens, guess they don't want sales to go very well.

I think those Rig Stats are really rought at best...I have a G4mx(used) and my brother has a Radeon9k (new) and that isn't factored in.

Though i'd defeinitely say Nvidia is definitely "winning" especially in the consumer mass market...

Quick lesson on how to create a good april fool's day joke

1) Wait until April 2nd
2) ?
3) Profit

(for those that can't take a subtle message, alternate post: The fact that he posted it on the 2nd doesn't stop it from being so ridiculous that it could only be an April Fool's Day joke. Furthermore, the chances that HL 2 will be Xbox only is about ZERO.)

I highly doubt Valve would lose _half_ their user base. Nvidia has saturated the market far too thoroughly .

I can see this being possible, if they are speaking of the XBox being the exclusive platform for a given period of time. Anyone who follows the console news heavily will know that there has been talk of MS courting Valve into an exclusive deal for Half-Life2 for some time. At one point(perhaps still) HL2 was listed as a XBox preorder item over at EB(nothing for the PC, far from concrete obviously but combined with everything else). I think that based on all we have heard MS has at the very least tried very hard to have HL2 XBox exclusive for a given period of time. It could also make sense if they are using an engine that would require DX8 level hardware to run. In the PC market, requiring DX8 would kill off a lot more of the potential market then requiring a nV board would(noone likes to talk about that though ). If Valve wanted to use a high end engine to power their game signing up with MS for a year long exclusive period, taking the cash from MS in the process, and allowing them potential multi-million sales levels before they release it on the PC when DX8 hardware is more commonplace then it is now doesn't sound like an impossible deal.

Furthermore, the chances that HL 2 will be Xbox only is about ZERO.)

Bungie was a Mac focused developer whose killer app was to elevate the status of Mac gaming and make the platform more attractive. Halo has since sold over three million copies on the XBox(~$150Million dollars in revenue generated) and between the Mac and PC combined managed zero(if Halo doesn't do well on the PC, expect more PC centric developers to be willing to take MS/Sony/Nintendo cash for exclusitivity deals). While I do think the idea that Half-Life will remain XBox exclusive is slim, the odds of Bungie becoming part of MS was quite a bit smaller still.

Cheers!

I'm trying to laugh, but it's just not working.

I sure hope HL2 isn't a console-only thing, or tailored for a specific videocard. I know I was ticked off when the second Star Wars Podracer game came out, only for Playstation 2. I will say this about the whole Microsoft monopoly thing with operating systems anyway - it's nice having the same thing almost everywhere. A uniform platform is definitely handy in many ways. All these battling consoles - consoles vs consoles vs PC's...that's bad enough. To have PC's battling PC's in yet another area (we've already got OS, DVD-+RW, browser wars going on) would just make them look even less appealing.
