HALF-LIFE 2 VS DOOM 3 :POLL:

Since it is likely HL2 will have far superior LAN/online play, I'm looking forward to it quite a bit more than Doom 3. Counterstrike needs to die, and it looks like only HL2 or CS:CZ will be able to deliver the fatal blow.

Ok, maybe not. All I know is that I had better upgrade my GF2 before trying either. I don't think Carmack is known for his level design, but I don't know what kind of team iD has now. We can only hope that HL2 rivals or even surpasses HL's gameplay.

Out of curiousity, how do you people know that HL2 has more Mod support than D3?

I still play half-life and many of the mods (day of defeat) so I am looking forward to HL2 more. DoomIII looks good, but beyond the eye candy what sotry interaction will there be? Judging by the HL2 article I think gameplay will be much more involved with HL2.

HL2...Valve always supports a killer mod community. I think I'm gonna jump into the world of modding to try and launch a game development career once this comes out.

Having seen the new HL2 Videos, and having previously been 'on the fence' (i.e. I felt that both games would be equal), I can say that I am definitely very excited about HL2 now. Doom3 is still on my 'must buy' list, but I'm going to make sure that my next upgrade will run HL2 well, and I won't worry about Doom's requirements as much.
