I remember HL2 well because I play through it every now and again (currently playing through HL1 again... slowly).

I don't really remember which episode was which though.

I've been waiting for it for so long that I don't really care about it anymore. When I can buy it I'll probably play it (if I still play games then, and don't have to buy their console to play it), but I feel zero anticipation about it now (ok, not quite zero, but pretty close).

if I recall correctly orange box also had tf2 and episode 2, both of which were new. so yeah, I don't think most people had those.

HL3 will debut valve's new engine, source is literally limping at this point.

HL3 will sell millions when released.

Valve is doing very well.

If they ever need money, they can then release HL3.

They're going to release Half-Life 2 episode 3 chapter 1. By moving to a chapter based release schedule, they're going to be able to get content to us faster and cheaper.

It's nothing new at all. Everyone already knows Valve is working on Half Life 3. What everyone wants to know is when it will actually be finished.

For me anyway they've waited too long to keep my interest. I liked HL2 and the episodes but at this point I've shifted focus to games actually being released as there's some good stuff out there. I haven't played many valve games recently and apart from steam itself I don't really get any entertainment out of them anymore. At this point I'll just sit patiently for the next Portal game and that's about it.

I did too, but you couldn't get TF2 from anywhere other than the Orange Box bundle.

I think the game itself will be good and polished but I think the whole episodic thing failed a long time ago except for maybe point & click adventure games.

I just hope they use a totally new engine, and not an upgraded HL2 engine. I missed out on TF2.

I owned the original Pong and the first Atari in 1977, and have been gaming ever since. Half Life 2's engine is the only engine ever produced that makes me physically ill after about 5-10 minutes. I get hot and start to sweat, and get queasy, to the point where I'm ready to throw up.

Yes, I've tried everything, including low to high graphics, different fields of view, and even different driver releases... just something about the lighting in that game makes me sick, regardless of frames per second or anything else. Happens with all Source games, including things like the Might and Magic game.

I would absolutely LOVE a team fortress 3 based on a new engine.

Too bad Fortress Forever turned out to be a flop.

As for HL3, valve needs to be working on "something". We got left 4 dead 2, and what, the people at valve have been sitting on their hands for over 2 years?

There was portal 2 and counter-strike GO. Surely valve has been working on something.

portal 2, yea maybe so.

But counter-strike GO, would you consider that a real game? The engine was already developed, the ideas and concepts were already in place.

In all honesty, isn't CS:GO just a bunch of maps? Its not like it has a story plot, or open world, or quest,,,. What has been done with CS:GO has already been done in other games.

DOTA 2, didnt Valve hire some people just to work on that game?
