If that's the case then I have some nice shiny rocks I made in a tumbler to give you. That should keep you entertained for a few hours.

It's because it's easy as hell to setup a multiplayer game with your friends and plop down on a couch.

But i wouldn't expect a comment any less than yours coming from a guy who has a link to his PC that probably cost well over $1K in his sig.

$950 for the CPU
$250 for the memory
$250 for the motherboard
$130 for the speakers
$40 for two 120mm fans
$300 for the monitor
$90 for the power supply
$150 for the case
$20 for the keyboard
$90 for the trackball
$200 for the hard drives
$30 for the DVDRW
$60 for the CPU cooler
$575 for the video card
$90 for the sound card

$3225 to be exact

halo isn't THAT great. it's fun, but there's still plenty that's annoying. first - chief is a slow a$$ motherfvck. he's supposed to be a cybernetically/genetically enhanced human and he can barely outrun a snail? please. autoaim - even disabled, it's a b!tch. weapon damages - if i nail you in the face with a full clip from the SMG, you better die. weapon sounds - nothing sounds like it does a whole lot of damage (compare the SMG's to the SMG from HL2, though oddly both do piss poor damage)

It requires vista only because it's DX10, and XP won't be getting DX10

the only reason halo is praised so much is it was one of the only good fps games to come out on the console. Halo BLOWS compared to most pc fps games. Anyone that thinks halo is better then the halflife series for example should be slapped!

also anyone thinking thumbstick controllers are better, or even comparable, to a keyboard and mouse should also be slapped!

On a final notes, the halo PC port was rediculously horrible, that game played like crap on even the most powerful computers.

If you want to play Halo, I seriously beg you to just get a 360. It is a much better option in both price and effectiveness, not to mention that Halo feels much better on a console than the horrible rendition on the PC.

I liked Halo 1 better than Halo 2, as someone else said, due to the fact it seemed that aiming was more important. Halo 2 just seemed like a rush and spray game, since spraying barely affected aim (yes, due to the stupid suit).

EDIT: Either way, both are overrated.

But why does it need DX10? The Xbox is not running DX10.

Because that's how the PC version is being programmed. I can't tell you why they went with DX10 and how the xbox360 version works with it's DX

Halo2 will only be Vista because Microsoft doesn't really care how many copies of Halo PC they sell, they want to sell Vista. It is as simple as that.

I agree that the reason Halo is so popular is because it was the first really good true FPS, before that I can think of only Goldeneye.

I would still argue that it is a great game. Few other games have AI that is as fun to play against as halo. It reminded me of fighting the foot soldiers in HL. There is a lot that you can complain about in Halo, but overall I think its a good game even competing against PC shooters.

Halo was not the first really good FPS. If you mean for console that may be right but I wouldnt know since I don't play console.

I enjoyed Halo on pc though it ranks up there among the better fps games for sure.

First good FPS besides Goldeneye? What about Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Quake II, Quake III Arena, Perfect Dark, Unreal Tournament, Timesplitters, or Half-Life, all released on consoles before Halo (except Half-Life, which came out on the same day)? Weren't any of these good FPS titles?

None of those games you just stated worked nearly as well as Halo did on the console.

Halo was designed for the console from the ground up, and that's what makes it play so well. It's not just that the story or whatever is good, it's that the control for Halo is by FAR the best controlling FPS on a console.

Well, since Halo came out well after most of those games, I would hope so. However, my point was that good FPS titles for the console existed long before Halo.

They all sucked on the console. Face it, the mouse is a better control than a joystick or a d-pad for playing first person shooters. Halo was the first game that actually controlled well on a console. While controls may not matter much for your adventure game or your rpg, its of utmost importance in fast paced shooters and strategy games.

Take Stacraft 64. Starcraft is one of the best RTS games of all time, but it blew on the Nintendo64.

So while there may have been HL or UT or Q3 or any other good pc shooter on a console, I would argue that they were not good consoles games. Ports are not the same game.

I dunno if any of you knew this but Circuit City actually already released Halo 2 PC on May 8th. Apparently they weren't contacted about the hold back. I work there. I bought a copy already and have been playing it all month since the 8th. You can actually get it on our website or type in your zip code and see if a store near you has it. Its fun as balls!!!
