over the five year life of a console, i figure i save $1,000 by buying PC games over buying console games ... saving an average of $10 for each comparable game ... and PC games fall to bargain bin much faster than console games.



no one ever figures that into the price

and perhaps by the time i upgrade to Vista ... next year for 'real' DX10 games ... Halo2 will be bargain bin

in the meantime, i guess i am really looking forward to BioShock.

Actually, the port of halo 1 to the pc was great. didnt need much horsepower to run well, had the mouse to aim better, and multiplayer was great as well.

I think you are talking about a different game

halo pc port is AWFUL. my system (a pretty bad one) runs HL2/Source (much prettier gfx) at 960x600 at 80 fps. halo....i get 30fps everything lowest. it was fun the first time thru, then multiplayer for a bit...but the engine itself is terrible for pcs.

EDIT: oh and btw, the netcode or whatever is HORRIBLE. srsly, u have to aim like 1-2cm ahead of the guy to hit him with an instant-hit gun, like pistol.

i actually noticed in watching a gameplay preview (from 1up i think), halo2PC moves A LOT faster (at least in the gameplay video). chief is no longer a slug (or so i hope)

I think you are talking about a different game

The Halo 1 port was good? Isn't this the game that wouldn't enable AA no matter what you did? And given the average graphics it had it didn't run that well. I would agree it had great multiplayer if it had coop but it didn't so it didn't stand out there either. The best thing I can say about it is it had a KB & mouse instead of a crappy controller that's not saying much.

IIRC, halo PC struggled on a 9800PRO and 5900Ultra which were, at the time, top of the line cards.

I played LAN with my roommates; it ran smooth as butter on integrated graphics on his Dell laptop.

It ran completely fine on max settings on my old 9800XT.

I'll be interested in seeing the story, and I did like Halo PC, so I'll give it a chance once I get Vista.

if it hits $20, plays like a true FPS, and has a decent online following, i might pick it up. for now, it's back to SOF2 even though i get pwned left and right. the game is just too awesome
