Why are both of you trying to make Halo sound good and intelligent or bad and useless ?

Can't you both accept the fact that one doesn't like it and the other does ?

Seems not. Might be too difficult for the ego. Looks like it makes people sound "cool" for not liking a game that was appreciated and loved by millions of consumers. Being in the minority give pression or what ?

Dang guys grow up already.

Every one has there own opinions and as long as the game is fun people will play it; I dont think it became popular because of media hype.

Halo is unoriginal, boring, and repetitive yet people still act as if it's the best game ever. The singleplayer sucks and the multiplayer is merely good.

Your right, it sucks soo bad that it is the number one most played game on Xbox Live. WHATEVER!!!

That trailer was absolutely stunning. I especially loved the music! It sounded different from the other Halo music. The perfect music for the end of the world. Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori can make beautiful music together.

Graphics were perfect.

Cortana was perfect.

This will be one hell of a game! I just hope to god that they release a HD DVD version of it.

As for the haters in this thread; go back to sitting all day and night at your PC, hunched over in your underwear, trying to work up the courage to virtually ask the ogre girl out that you meet in World of Warcraft you loser.

There is a fine line between playing a game and living the game.

I used WOW to represent a generic MMORPG.

If you have to explain your insult/joke, you failed.

For what it's worth:

Halo: Fighting covenant was fun. Fighting flood was stupid. Completely saved by the cooperative play option. Overall, fun game.
Halo 2: Played a few levels and asked my friend to tell me the story. Much worse than Halo.

Both are crippled by an interface terribly unsuited for FPS games.

Halo 3... after 2, I don't expect much...

Hey Bungie: Focus less on your crappy multiplayer and focus more on FINISHING your games.

Edit: Actually this one might be good, he is carrying the Assault Rifle.

Heh, that was my reaction. Loved Halo 1, played through Halo 2 and was 'eh' on the new features, never got into Live play... like you said, I'll be approaching this one a little more cautiously. Also, I own Halo 1 on both PC and Xbox, and I like PC FPS and non-FPS games as much as I like some Xbox games. So no need to call me a preteen PC noob or elitist PC gamer snob, I just like Halo. Is it easy to get Marathon running on XP? Weren't those for OS9? Everybody raves about them...

I may have played Halo a year or so after release (on PC), but it was repetitive to me at the time. Every room seemed the same, and I ended up beating it just to beat it.

And Oblivion rules.

Spoken like a true console gaming kiddo:roll:

(no offense to the mature console gamers out there, I know that his type does not represent all of you)

I'll say Halo is one of the best single player console shooters but thats not saying much. I def don't see what most like about it. I played through it wondering when it was gonna get real good but it never really did. When Halo 2 came out I gave it a 30min run and I could tell from that alone it was gonna be the same thing.

Also the Multiplayer sucks.

Do you consider Fear, Half Life 2, or Doom 3 to be any better? They all possess the traits that you say makes Halo a bad game.

Halo is entertaining for many reasons. Halo has a deep story line that people enjoy learning about as they play. Regardless of gameplay, the storyline drives people to play the game. Contrary to some games though, Halo delivers in all aspects, not just storyline. First of all, you have a game that runs great. It maintains playability in all places in the game, which is something that a large amount of games cannot achieve. Halo has a soundtrack that is without a doubt within the top five of any game ever made. The game was the first shooter to offer enemies with such a high and complex level of AI. Very few games even to this day can compare to Halo in the AI department. As a result of this, the enemies in Halo are fun to play against. That is a point that many developers do not seem to understand. The game has a large variety of environments to explore and play through. There is a nice balance between indoor and outdoor areas, so you get quite a nice mix of close quarter, long range, and vehicular combat.(granted the game does just do a repeat in the end) The game has weapons which are quite balanced for the most part, with a few quirks here and there, but nothing to get angry about. I have yet to see any game out that has grenades or any explosive that are as flashy and fun to use as the ones found in Halo. The game has quite a varience in difficulty, allowing players of all skills to play, also something that many games have yet to get right.

It is quite simple. Halo is not a game that hype built. Everyone was saying that Xbox was going to suck and that it was going to fail and have terrible games. People first played Halo with the preconceived and predecided notion that they are not going to like the game. But contrary to expectancies, Halo turned out to be not only good, but good enough to bring about the success of an entire console system. It was good enough to change the minds of people who already made up their mind. Saying that Halo is a bad game really shows how naive and fanboyish some people can be. Does it harm you to have a good game on a console you do not own? Some people think so, so they bash and slam every game that is not on their console.

I like to play video games. I do not care what system the game is on, as long as the game is good, I will play it. I am looking forward to the likes of Halo 3 and the new Metal Gear. But to be honest, the current E3 videos of gameplay on the Nintendo Wii seem far more impressive than either of the aforementioned titles.

I've never played HL2 because of Steam and I do agree that Doom 3 (along with most other iD games) is trash as well.

If Halo has a story then so do 99% of most other games. How exactly was its story told better than any other game? You walked around, shot things, and on occasion you got a little dialogue or a cinematic. Halo runs great? ROFL, it's horribly laggy on computers that were midrange the time it was released. Ask anyone and they'll say it was a horrible port to the PC. I don't understand why people worship the Halo soundtrack so much. The only two songs I remember were a classical-sounding intro song and an 8-bit era quality song when you sneak up on the sleeping aliens.

Don't tell me about AI; it's hardly anything new in that game. They got the AI from Marathon 2: Durandal (Halo's awesome prequel), added some code for vehicles, and made it so they dodge grenades. If you want good AI, play Far Cry. Yes, there is a mix of indoor and outdoor missions. However, the fact that all the indoor missions and most of the outdoor missions suck doesn't make it good. Silent Cartographer was probably the only good level in the entire game. Yeah, the grenade button and the plasma grenades are nice. Big deal.

To be honest, I don't know how Halo sold so well. My bets are that people wanted something to play on the X-Box and that they (along side the media) gobbled it up. It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft advertised the hell out of it as well, and Bungie was already a somewhat well known game developer before Halo.

awesome? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Marathon_2_Screenshot.jpg

what do you not consider pos troll ?

Anything that has some kind of uniqueness that Halo never had. Maybe in the console world its pretty cool, but its boring/lame compared to anything the pc has to offer thats good.

That's the great thing about Halo. It's meant for the console. You did know that, right?

I liked halo 1... even compared to other PC games, gameplay was allright, story was nice, the little tune that goes with it was good. Halo did it for me.

Halo 2 just wasent as good imo. I didnt play the entire thing, but i was told the masterchief and the conveniant guy you play go off together to find all the halo rings and destroy them. Gay ending

what really happens is that halo #2 is prevented from firing. chief finds out that earth is the site for remotely activating ALL halo installations. he takes a covenenant ship back to earth, general says, "chief, what are you doing on that ship?"
"finishing the fight, sir!"

----screen goes blank-----

i hated that ending.. just when the game made me want to kick some ass, it jerks it away:|:|

Halo and Halo 2 work because they have a virtual monopoly on FPS on the xbox, on the PC there is plenty of other options and Halo seems a little pale in comparison. It's single player isn't anything special but very few FPS like Halo have any real story either. The music is great but devs are starting to realize the importance of music so I expect that to get better across the board. Remember Halo was designed as a console game and didn't need to compete with much because there isn't that much available, competing against the multitudes of FPS on the PC if it didn't have all the hype it would get lost.
