cod4 by far, I've had it since Nov 07 and usually any game I've had for over a month just doesn't get played. Except COD4, do you guys still play on a certain night?

I checked the "CoD 4 night" thread, it hasn't been posted on since April so I'll assume no.

I dont know why people dog Halo 3 all the time. It is one of my favorite games. I was a huge halo2 addict...(Like when I was most addicted probably 50 hours a week) You just have to be in the mood for Halo...thats all.

i played halo 2 for 2+ years after it came out. the thing halo 2 had that halo 3 doesn't is good maps. halo 3's maps suck for the most part. also the weapon respawn system is still flawed as hell which makes the game more about controlling the power weapons than anything else.

I agree, shoobiex... while I don't like Halo 3 as much as CoD 4, it does have its moments. I remember one time several months ago, before I even had a 360, I was at my friend's house doing split screen on Live, and since I didn't have much practice and we were sharing a tiny screen I wasn't that good. But then we had a game of Team Duals on Guardian and I learned that I can totally kick ass with a single SMG. Better than duals for whatever reason (I guess the fast reload time). Got the most kills of anyone that game, which was very impressive at the time since I was normally near the bottom.

That's another thing CoD 4 can't do - if you have friends over and just one Xbox, you have to play Halo 3 because there's no online split screen in CoD 4.

Overall I think Halo 3 is a better casual shooter or party game, whereas CoD 4 is more of a visceral shooter where you have to constantly watch your back and be careful not to get caught unprepared.

My Halo 3 playing is hardly "casual" as you say. When I put on my Halo 3 t-shirt it is nothing but serious business in PWNING n00bz!@!!1!11!! Haha. But yeah I can see that. That is the one thing I heard about CoD 4 is that people wish it had an online multiplayer system like Halo 3's like partying, split screen, etc.

Kabob - Lol, yeah if you get sick of it and want to send it my way I'm all for it. I may get a chance to rent it sooner or later (none of my friends with 360's own it strangely enough), but I do still have a considerable amount of time left with GTA4 and Ninja Gaiden 2.

This is no contest at all... COD4. It's the only FPS to date that, in my opinion, truly works on a console. In fact, not only does it work on a console, I think it's the first FPS that's actually better experienced on a console than on a PC.

Halo... bleh. Tried 3, couldn't get into it at all. Trampoline wars FTL.

It's difficult for me to describe why exactly I couldn't enjoy it. Perhaps it was because I felt like I had so little control over my fate: the game felt very random to me. The graphics were, frankly, downright disappointing. Way too cartoony for me, and while gameplay trumps all, I am a graphics whore at the end of the day. COD 4's graphics, combined with it's more skilled gameplay (IMO), pwnt me.

I finally bought COD4 for my 360 (had it for months on PC), and I discovered that there's virtually no bunny hopping. I guess it sort of makes up for the rampant grenade spam.

However, COD4 is really, really bad at balancing teams. I've only played a balanced team game once or twice (across both PC and Xbox versions). Generally I stick to free-for-all and I'm fine. "Old School" mode is actually pretty fun too, even though I suck at it. It makes the gameplay a lot more like Halo, if you like that sort of thing. Guns have way more ammo per magazine, your health doesn't regenerate, you jump higher, and you have to pick up all your weapons and perks as well. It's too bad there are rarely more than 200 people playing this mode at any given time because I think it's pretty fun.

call of duty 4
I got Halo 3 a month before Call of Duty 4, but I quit playing right after I got Call of Duty 4.

Every aspect of COD4 is better than halo including the single player (besides the fact that its shorter than Halo3 - quality > quantity)
There aren't any douche bags with snipers who will headshot you while moving from the other side of the map. In Call of Duty 4, the snipers are harder to use since there is breathing, etc.
Also, the fights are much shorter which is better since there isn't such thing really as running away, getting your health up, and running back
The weapon attachments / perks / camos are some of the coolest things since you can really customize your weapon to your liking / use

All in all on a scale between 1-10, I'd give COD4 a 9.5 and Halo 3 a 7
I never get sick of multiplayer COD4

If you are with lots of friends, halo3 is he game of choice since there is 4-player per XBOX system link. Call of Duty 4 - you have to have a separate XBOX / TV for each player if you do system link (or you can play 4 people on 1 xbox).
If all my friends could have an xbox / tv though, I'd much rather play call of duty with them

Halo 3 was over-hyped, and it certainly wasn't the best fps of all time. Not even close. But it is fantastic. A lot of people are complaining about the whole map control idea in H3, which is part of the appeal for me. It's an arena styled deathmatch where a key kill here or there can greatly sway the momentum of a match, especially in 2v2. Lob a couple good grenades to deny the enemies the Rocket Launcher and you can greatly alter the outcome of the match.

All the weapons are well balanced in H3, with every weapon being deadly in certain situations. That wasn't always the case in prior Halo games.

COD4 is great, too. I played it on my pc for about 30 minutes but then uninstalled it and gave the game back to a co-worker. I played the original COD and it's expansion pack COD:UO for a very long time and I'm frankly tired of the series, the modern warfare setting didn't spark my interest either. But I can tell that most of the things I loved about the original are still present in COD4, so the game is definitely good.

My favorite shooter is still the Battlefield series on pc. I'm having fun with Bad Company now and can't wait for a full fledged sequel (BF3) for pc!

both are fun games. its just that halo got a little boring while cod was a different game compared to its previous counterparts.
