Of course news media will (if they haven't alread) blame video games and not his parents or the loaded .22 he shot himself with.

I tell you what it is a sad story but you have to give the kid credit he did
a great job building all of the weapons and costume from the game.

My son plays the game and I watch over him during play. It isn't the game I think it is the parents or lack of parenting that is the problem

It can't be the Halo Kid, if he shot himself, the worse that could happen is that his shields would be drained so you'd need pretty much more than 1 shot to kill unless he shot himself with a sniper rifle or blew himself up with a grenade. The artcle says it's .22 caliber, the shields would hold up just fine so it can't be him.
