it wasn't one of your listed ones, but i like battlefield bad company for multiplayer. it is class-based and objective oriented. two teams: one attacking two objectives at a time and one defending. there is no deathmatch, just the main gold rush mode (and conquest if you liked that from older BF). it can be repetitive, but games are different because of the people you are playing with, and destructible environments, which makes a surprising difference. bonus: cheaper than the two games you mentioned.

+1 to this--it's too bad that COD4 killed the hype on this. It's a really cool game. Sorta like COD with lots of vehicles to use.

BF:BC is on sale for $20 this week at Best Buy as well, you can price match at other stores if need be.

I concur!!!

I will say though, that I really do enjoy playing Halo 3 co-op campaign. I have yet to play with more than 2 people though ( usually my gf and I, or another friend and I). I also like Gears 2 horde better than some of the other MP modes.

If you like CoD4, you'll love the W@W multiplayer. I think the maps and gameplay balance are better. It's not a snipe and frag fest.

Hell no! Some maps are snipe fests, and the re-spawning is horrible. I love getting re-spawned 2 or 3 times in a row right in front of someone where I cant even take a step before getting killed.

THIS

I've been playing WaW for a few days now, and the map design is absolutely terrible. They're too big, there's too much clutter, there's no "flow" built into the maps, and the spawn system puts you right in the middle of enemy clusters, and they you.

The maps are beautiful, the graphics are slightly improved over COD4, but *ALL* of WaW's maps play like COD4's Bog and Countdown, which suffer from the same randomness.

[edit in the interest of staying on topic]

OP, I could never recommend Halo 3 to anyone, as I never understood the draw. Despite my complaints about WaW, COD4 > WaW > Gears 2 > pancakes with diarrhea spread > Halo 3.

I, like many people on xbox live, would argue that Halo3 MP is a good time, especially with friends. And, unlike COD4, you can invite three friends over to your house and you can all sign on and play Halo3 online through one Live account. There must be a reason why Halo3 is always at or near the top of the Xbox Live most-played chart.

I too really enjoy COD4 MP and when I first moved to it from Halo3, it was a breath of fresh air, since it was more realistic. But playing Halo3 with friends, especially friends that know what they're doing, make working together as a team very fun.
