Hammock Stand?

Since I cut down all of my trees, I don't have any place to hang my really nice hammock. Anyone have any experience with the arc stands? I need something easy enough to move around since I'll have to move it to cut the grass.

I'm looking at this "cheap" cypress one at Home Depot ($238)

I'm guessing you don't want anything permanent in your lawn? You could place some posts and plant flowers around them to look reasonably nice.

What kind of hammock? Is it your basic netting hammock or a cloth panel? My brother has a hammock stand that is fairly ugly, but it holds a cloth hammock, so you don't actually see the stand itself (and thus the elegance of the stand is irrelevant).

Also, that particular stand has some pretty poor reviews on Amazon. Something to consider.

Every time I hear 'banana hammock', it makes me think of this episode of Scrubs. JD went to a coworker's apartment that was wearing a banana hammock. There was a picture on his wall with him and a bunch of dudes wearing them.... JD commented, "I guess you were on a swim team...?" and the guy basically said, "No...what do you mean?"

It was a pretty good gag.

I want to comment on the ones you buy...if they're in the elements, they'll likely last 5 years...maybe more, maybe less. Metal ones start to rust if left to the rain.....those cypress ones will weather and gray out if you don't cover them with a few coats of polyurathane. I recommend sealing and using only galvanized hardware.

It's a "space saving" design (the hammock ends are sort of "folded over" the ends), and won't work with all hammocks. They have a more conventional one too, which is bigger and apparently heavier (60 pounds vs 30 pounds): http://www.amazon.com/Vivere-15BEAM-...HGB2VENKJ69J46

Mine is used indoors, and the reviews on Amazon suggest controllable issues with rust when kept outdoors. So that may be an issue for you. 30 pounds is very easy to maneuver around; 60 pounds is still not bad. The one I have is sturdy enough and inoffensive-looking.

But I mention this mostly because the price is around half of the one you posted.
