i dont share that philosophy. i would rather the intruder hear that and run. if they dont, ive trained enough to face an intruder that is aware of my armed presence.

Do you guys remember that scene in Batman where he lets people know exactly where he is and gives them a chance to run away? That was a great scene.

The odds that you will actually shoot "the bad guy" with a hand gun and not your neighbor or gf by accident aren't too good. You shoot and miss, that bullet goes through the wall across the street, into your kids room, etc. Sheetrock doesn't stop bullets. If you need hand gun to make you feel like a man that can protect himself then you really should put on a skirt and go swish it around somewhere.

On the other hand I think a nice shotgun is perfect for home defense. Easy to hit someone, intimidating and less likely to kill someone far away.

You can get shotgun and pistol rounds designed to flake apart upon passing through sheetrock.
Police were supposed to be using them regularily a while ago but I dont know what happened with that.

All of my guns are lock and loaded. That way all she have to do is pull the trigger when I'm not home.

You'd have made a great Nazi.

Actually, you have it backwards, it was Nazi's who banned guns. First from the Jew. Making it easy to round them into ghettos and rail carts, then from general populace.

And polpot, and mao, and idi amin, and Castro, and stalin and any other murderous dictatorial regime had to ban them before commencing their genocidal police state..

lol guns are illegal here. So are bombs and stuff. You can't just get that at the store like in the states. A robber would have a knife, at most.

Trust me I'd probably be terrified at first and back off, but the rage of knowing he is in my house wanting to take my items, I'd suddently react in any way possible to stop him. I would not really be scared to kill at this point. Probably get charged, but could maybe have a small chance of getting off for self defence. The issue would be the after math after he's down. I'd probably just keep hitting uncontrollably. Would be gruesome, but he'd never, ever rob a house again. You don't need a gun to protect yourself.

No they are not I've been hunting in Canada 14 years straight.

LMAO!! guns aren't evil and have minds of their own. Why does everyone think that gun owners will eventually end up shooting their families or innocent people? you act like gun owners are always playing with their guns in an unsafe manner or just itching to kill someone. it's like 99.9% untrue.

All gun owners I know clean their guns while loaded.

And, they play cops and robbers with a mag in and one in the chamber all the time. You know, to practice in case they are ever under fire in the real world.

You somehow completely missed my point. This is why people hate most gun owners, they are too stupid to read a complete post let alone be trusted with a deadly weapon(same reason I hate most drivers too). I have no issues with gun ownership. I just think having a loaded pistol next to your bed is selfish and careless. 99.9% of people may not be itching to kill someone, but 100% of people can make a poor decision under pressure, and everyone is vulnerable to being temporarily insane.

Then, by that logic we should all live inside a plastic bubble like the bubble boy. Not be able to interact with anything, because if we could we might go insane and do something stupid or make a poor decision.

How is having a weapon near your bed selfish and careless? It could be careless if you don't have it locked up with children around, but it appears that if there are kids in the home the owner of the gun has a safe/lock for it. It's selfish to want to protect yourself and your family from one of those people making a poor decision or who is insane? How exactly does that work?

Quick question for you. If you were the cop, what would you have done in the 1st scenario? You see a guy running down the street with a gun drawn, you identify yourself as a police officer and tell him to stop. Now what do you do when the guy turns toward you with his gun? What do you think is going through that cops head at the time?

your original post, the one I quoted and made my reply to, mentioned nothing about having a loaded gun next to your bed. so i'm not sure how i missed your retardedly simple and uneducated point.

also, your post is why people hate people with an irrational fear of guns and just post gibberish - you make baseless claims that make no sense.

you also make claims that anyone who has a handgun is unmanly and should dress in a skirt. I'm not even sure where the fuck that comes from. I'd be willing to bet that there are a lot more handguns out there that are bought for defense than shotguns. What does it says about women who buy handguns for defense?

you also can't carry a shotgun in a holster on in a purse. so what do you do when you need protection outside of the home? Do you have a personal bodyguard or police escort everywhere?

1 - he would never be a cop because he hates authority.
2 - he would never be a cop because he's so afraid of guns he couldn't carry one
3 - if in some magical world that he would become a cop, he would be shot because he would try to reason with the criminals.

What I have next to my bed is none of your business and does not affect you. Why is that so hard to understand?
