I have a big flashlight, and other hard objects. If by chance I had a home invasion they would get it to the head pretty hard. What sucks though is that you're technically not allowed to defend your property here. If I harm the person or that person is harmed in my home I could get sued, which is pretty gay. But as self defense I would do everything in my power regardless, to defend myself, my cat, and my property. Most decent cops would side with the home owner and not the crook, anyway.

Guns make too much of a mess anyway, and if you miss you risk damaging your own property. A direct hit in the head with a blunt object is nice and clean, then just have to keep the crook knocked out until the cops arrive. Probably tie him up to be safe. Duct tape FTW.

My AR-15 isnt loaded but I have 10 rounds in a magazine next to it in the closet. If somebody breaks in my plan is to arm and call the police. If he comes down the hallway 1 warning round then the next nine come through the wall at him. If I dont get him with 9 shots it is fisticuffs time and pray he isnt armed or I jump out my window and wait for the police.

I dont own a handgun yet.

There's a difference between "impossible" and "highly improbable".

How do you plan for the improbable then?

In the Dallas metroplex area for the past few years, there has been a rash of home invasions in fairly nice neighborhoods because these azzwipes know there is nicer stuff/more money/jewelry/etc to be had and that these homeowners probably wont put up much resistance..

I would guess that these homeowners thought the likelihood that they would be victims of a home invasion were improbable as well...

If you pull the trigger, a warning shot is a waste ammo. Plus the wasted time in going to Home Depot to buy spackle and whatever to repair your drywall. I am glad I live in state where you can shoot someone who has no right to be inside your house so you can protect yourself, your family and your possessions without legal repercussions.

Where do you live that a home invasion is impossible? Space station? Deserted island?

I would say that I could never live anywhere that home invasion is probable. Where I live home invasion is much less likely to occur compared to things like lightning strikes and tornado. So it has never occurred to me that people worry about it enough to keep a loaded gun at the ready.

The warning shot is for hoping he runs out the front door and I dont have to kill him. I'd rather not have that on my mind. And also have to deal with a possible overzealous prosecutor who decides using a black gun that looks like something from Iraq to shoot an intruder is excessive force.

Yeah, keep in mind the burglar has probably planned this out somewhat, is probably going to be more alert than you, and is carrying at least whatever big heavy object he used to break in in the first place.

You have fun engaging him in H2H. I'll be happy to stand back and shoot.

Good luck figuring out just the right amount of force to knock him out, without killing him. If it's anybody tough, you'll just piss him off, then things will get ugly.

It's a personal preference on an AK or AR if you put your hand in front of the magazine or on the handguards. Eitherway is fine.

Ever grab a metal part on an AK after firing a couple 30 rnd magazines through it? There's a reason why they make the wooden parts out of wood or plastic.

That is perhaps the worst home defense weapon you could choose...well, that and possibly a deer hunting rifle.

If you have to fire 30 rounds at a home intruder, something is seriously wrong (other than the fact that some azzwipe is inside your home when he shouldn't be)...

I'm thinking that the nuclear bomb with the finger on the trigger someone posted earlier would be worse.....much much worse

the barrel gets hot, not the magazine.

It has been a while since I've done this but I seem to recall just about every metal part was too hot to touch...then again, we were really blasting through a lot of ammo in quick succession. And it was hot as fuck out in the desert that day.

I do not own any firearms. Two main reasons. One, I don't want to spend the $ on it. Two, the girl isn't a huge fan of them (not that she is against them).

For now, I carry a Surefire at all times. My thoughts are that while it's not a firearm, a light that throws out a tactical level beam is going to be bright enough to disorient them. Which will give me time to get away, or retaliate in some way. I realize this isn't a good home defense plan, but for now it's what I got. I am slowly in the process of researching handguns to purchase one (be it sole for home defense, or for CCW) at some point in the future.

When I do have one, it will either be mag in unchambered or one in the chamber.

One would think that with all these guns around any criminal with a head on his shoulder would be afraid to get shot if he even thought about committing a crime yet the US crime rate is higher then the Canadian one.

Why is that?

Thats because these Internet gunslingers we have here, are just that, internet gunslingers. What is funny is most of them live in neighborhoods where the biggest crime they see is a parking ticket. They totally ignore many facts. Like most burglaries occur when no one is home in the middle of the damn day. So much for those night vision goggles for this elite crime fighting crowd. They ignore that to the tune of almost 90%, these guns in their homes will be used in one way or another to injure a another family member, innocent person, or friend instead of a criminal.
Most of the Green Berets and Navy Seals we have here on this board, lol, have never ever actually met a real life criminal. Because if they did they would know two things. One, most of the hardcore criminals are not intimidated by their guns. Actually they love it, because stolen guns have nice value on the street. And 2, its a fact noise will drive away burglers faster than any gun. A common loud mouth beagle will do a better job than any gun on the planet in the middle of the night. But hey with all the Jason Bournes here, hell I am surprise we have any crime in this country at all.
Lock and load baby. More like load of bs, but hey they keep the internet safe. I feel so much safer when I come here. Spidey is a true marksman though. He can hit the keys on keyboard to the tune of 80 words a minute, reloading on the fly. Truly Elite
