How does this LCD handle playing games in a res other than 1280x1024? Does it look like complete crap? This is my main concern as I've only owned CRTs. It'd be nice if I didn't have to upgrade my video card often just so I can keep playing new games at the native res. I tend to play most at 1024x768 and 1152x864.

A friend mentions it's something to do with bicubic resampling being better than linear resampling. I don't understand what those mean but I thought I'd mention it.

Just FYI I jumped on this at $129 and recieved both rebates. I like it, very nice upgrade from my old 17"CRT.
However I got one dead/stuck pixel. But it's down to one side and stuck a dark redish color so I never notice it playing games, only if i'm web surfing, and then only if I'm trying to find it.

I got one of these monitors last week. I ordered it on Tuesday night, and it was at my local DHL by Thursday morning! The "expected delivery date" was listed as Monday, and DHL decided to just hold on to it until Monday morning.

I also ordered a 100-pack spindle of Maxell CDRs to get free shipping. PCConnection sent me a spindle that looks like it was dropped and the base of the spindle package was crushed and won't hold the cover. I don't think it was damaged in shipping because the base of the spindle was wrapped in packing tape. None of the CDs are damaged, so I suppose it doesn't matter, but I'm surprised that PCConnection would send something in that condition.

The LCD has no bad pixels, and I'm pretty happy with it. This is my first LCD, and it's not even for me. I'm taking this one to Taiwan to replace the wife's 14 or 15-inch LCD. I'm just using it in the meantime to check it out. I've been playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, and things look great.

I've been using a 19-inch CRT for years at 1920x1200. This LCD was initially giving me that resolution but everything was looking like crap. After rebooting the PC, it seems I'm now limited to 1280x1024. Everything looks fine now, but I'd prefer the higher resolution. So, is this the deal with LCDs? I need to use it at the max resolution or lower and can't force it higher?

I've un-clicked the "use DDC information" in the monitor properties sub-menu of the displays properties, and I've set the max resolution (available) to 1920x1200, but I the slider bar for screen resolution is still limited to 1280x1024.

I suppose it's temporary anyway, but I'll need to look into this more before buying an LCD for myself.

It's a 1280x1024 LCD, but the specs said that.

BTW if you can still find any, it's available at officedepot.com for $105 AR (+tax on $205) with only one $100 rebate.

You can get free shipping from PC Connection with promo code 432732732.

That brings the total cost of the monitor down to $109 after tax and shipping (assuming you live in a state where they don't charge tax, which strangely enough includes CA!)

Thanks for the shipping code T, it worked. Ordered the monitor at 9 pm last night. DHL left it on my porch at 2:16 this afternoon. 17 hour turnaround isn't bad

Unlike a CRT which uses a electron gun to "spray" an image of whatever size you like an LCD monitor has a fixed number of pixels. A reasonably good analogy is those roadside signs they have a gas stations, Ect Just how these signs have say 300x50 lightbulbs you lcd has 1280x1040 pixels. So you will never get a resolution higher then that.

Gaming was my concern too since I don't have the horsepower to run my games in anything higher than 1024x768. But I bit the bullet on the Hanns-G anyway and I couldn't be happier. I'm still playing my games at 1024x768 and they look MUCH better than they did on my 21" Nokia Trinitron. I'm playing Oblivion, Dawn of War, and Red Orchestra and they all look fanastic.

Can't say I expected to get such differing opinions. Now I'm really confused.

After reading this thread, I ordered the LCD too. I ordered it on 15th and DHL delivered it on 17th!

But I seem to have a problem with $100 rebate ( When I fill out a rebate claim online on www.onrebate.com (as instructed by the rebate form) on the final stages when the website tells me that they've sent a confirmation e-mail with unique rebate number, I don't get those e-mails ( I tried 3 time already... (

Anybody had similar experience?

On a recent power supply purchase that I found here there was a rebate handled by Onrebate. I spent over an hour trying to fill out the form, trying both Firefox and then Internet Explorer. I'd fill the whole thing out, and then on the last line where it asked for my phone number I'd get it half way and then I could not enter any more numbers.

I tried calling Onrebate while I was painting my house. I'd connect, be put on hold, and then from one to four hours later (no kidding) it would disconnect. At the end of the day I gave up .

Also Onrebate seemed to be offline more than it was online. "Maintenance" it would say. One has to wonder--is this "make it so hard" that a big percentage just gives up? Either the place is incompetent or fraudulent imho.

FWIW, I ordered the monitor at 2pm on Thurs and it was sitting next to me at work 24 hours later. Incredible turnaround time. Got home, plugged it in -- no burnt out or stuck pixels. Looks great in native res (1280x1024). It booted into non-native res originally and it didn't look that good, so I wouldn't plan on using it in that mode.

The monitor stand is non-adjustable, which is disappointing, but what you'd expect from a $109 monitor. Overall, a great deal.

I haven't tried the onrebate system yet. Sounds like it'll be a pain, but people on Fatwallet have been saying they've been getting their rebates.

Absolutely not true IMO. I agree with GuildBoss, games look fine to me on this LCD at 1024x768.

Trust me. I held my breath the first time I ran Oblivion at 1024x768 with the Hanns-G but it honestly looks fantastic. I'm just upset I didn't upgrade sooner but I'd always read that LCD's had to be run in native mode... Nonsense.

Great! Thanks for the info guys. Think I'll pick one of these up in the next few days. Already got my mom to order one for herself to replace her ancient 15" CRT.

I really want to get in on this deal but after hearing about the horror stories on FW about people not receiving their rebates because the rebate company doesn't allow resubmissions, I'm still on the fence. Anyone over here have rebate problems yet?

I resubmitted to onrebate once... No issues. They were very slow in replying, took several emails, etc, but I got to resubmit and I got my $40.

Got my $100 onrebate.com rebate yesterday, was submitted on 7/10 so right at 5 weeks. Not bad. These guys are shysters though with their stupid 'no resubs' policy. Yeah, like they couldn't mess it up on purpose.

Still waiting on the $20 rebate but it was approved.
