I'm actually looking forward to my next car purchase, still several years off, which will be the cheapest car I've ever bought. Sitting in a car that I paid 3-4K cash for, knowing I'm going to squeeze another 100K miles out of it, all the while not being afraid to try any repairs on my own since I'll have a 2nd car as backup, is going to bring a smile to my face.

37k miles. 6 years later I still like my 00 Maxima. Its suspension isn't as hard as it once was, its stereo was kicked (literally) in a couple of years ago, but the engine still runs at 119k like a champ.

Thanks for posting what car you're driving considering it's the central point of this thread. Great thread & would read again! :/

I don't love/hate my car. 06 Accord

Thanks for being unable to click "my ride" or being able to understand that the point of the thread isn't my car specific, rather to let people appreciate their own high mileage cars given the number of threads revolving around brand new cars.

Great reply, would run over like a speed bump again.

Back in '95 my Rodeo had 12mi. or so. Today it still sits in front of my house driven once in a while at 112k. X5 in January had 4mi. and plan to do the same, though these days I don't drive as much and it will be a long haul to 100k. 5k/year avg these days... haha.

When I bought my car it had 3 miles on it. When I test drove it, it still had the shipping plastic all over the interior and exterior in fact. That was almost 6 years ago. It is paid for now and I have 72,000 miles on it. That makes me happy. It still looks great and is clean and comfortable. It is also reasonably quick and it has been reliable, never once has it left me stranded by the side of the road (it has never been towed).

It ain't no sports car though...still, I have no plans to replace it anytime soon. I have my motorcycle for those times when I want to have fun.

Picked up mine a few days ago, REAL happiness is picking up a new ride with 4 miles on the odo and not paying 1 penny. Company car FTW!

In the morning getting ready for work, starting it up is my motivation for hurrying.

When it's half an hour to both lunch time and quitting time and I'm staring at the clock getting twitchy, it's also the reason why.

Years later, I still can't hide the grin or calming bliss when I turn the key, and I've not once been envious of any other car, even ones more expensive or more equipped.

All stress, worries, etc, dissolve instantly when that engine comes to life. And life is slightly less boring and more breath taking when the boost gauge flexes with the ear piercing shrill of over-spun blower whine and smell of burnt tire and raw fuel.

It's a 2003 Cobra. Not stock

Happiness is actually hitting the first 1200 mile service interval on the 2008 M3, and driving home from the dealership after. This is because the "no full-throttle and only rev it to 5500rpm" restriction is lifted, and you can full-throttle it all the way up to 8400rpm and 414 horsepower.

Happiness is knowing that every Hummer that you pull up next to at a traffic light is a worse offroader than your vehicle

My dad just recently stopped driving his work truck. It was a 1992 Sierra and has around 500,000km.

I purchased my '03 Wrangler with 48 miles. 5+ years later it's paid off with 46,000 miles. It used to be my daily driver, but now it's my fun/project vehicle. A '97 Grand AM GT is my daily driver.

95 Ford Bronco, 8mi on the odo, now 13 years later with 112,000 miles on the ODO, no major repairs other than cruise control switches, temp guage, and transfer case solenoid, still pulls jeeps out of the mud, tows a 4,000lb boat, and has enough torque to idle itself up a grade. now with Flowmaster 50 delta Flow SUV SI/DO muffler it drives in style

"Whats wrong with getting a 2nd hand car every few years?"

That's what I always do but "every few years" is actually more than that. I've never bought a new car nor do I intend to unless tons of free money falls into my hands for a very exceptional new car like a Shelby GT 500KR.

I buy a nice used car, fix it up and drive it another 10-15 yrs until rust takes over as was the case with my '86 Volvo 745T. After 23yrs
(300K miles) of salty winter roads, the frame was getting weak from rust otherwise I'd still have it.

I never have car payments and can keep any car going cheaply. I do my own repairs too so no repair bills either.
