Was it that difficult for you to understand? I was trying to say that if mugged, attacked, raped, etc, I would rather them taking pictures, because if they get caught its an instant conviction.

As for Guiliani, he really didn't do much except clean up Times Square and hold lots of pro police TV interviews. The guy is about as straight as an English country lane and as trustworthy as a $7 note.

Thanks for telling us you're a liberal. I'm proud of you. I'm a liberal also, but I have retained by objectivity and sense and realize that YES, EVEN REPUBLICANS CAN BE GREAT MEN.

New York City is FIVE boroughs and 9 million people. NOT JUST TIMES SQUARE. There is a reason why he was popular as a mayor. People realized that you need a strong leader in office who does not care about being politically correct. You go after thugs and criminals with everything you got.

New York City WAS a dump, but is no longer a dump. Ever been to Queens? Bayside? Staten Island? The better parts of Flushing?

That is total BS on your part. Rudy Giuliani has transformed NYC into one of the safest major cities in America. When you consider it to be the capital of the world, the heart of financial transactions and a cultural hotspot, it is amazing how safe and secure the city is. Much of the credit for that has to go to Giuliani and the brave members of the NYPD and NYFD.

You're just being ridiculous. When did I say being hit by a falling body qualifies you as a mayor?

The fact remains that Giuliani was one of the best mayors NY ever had.

before 9/11, his approval rating was somewhere in the neighborhood of 35%, and 91% of blacks in NYC disapproved of his performance.

I can respect the fact that you respect him, but he was a far from perfect mayor, and if he had run for reelection on September 10th, 2001, he probably would have lost badly.

hmmm... i'm not sure where i stand on the guns thing. i think we should probably be allowed, but it does worry me about them being widely available... i think the government has given homeowners more rights since the martin case but the conservatives pledged a while back to try and get the use of deadly force allowed, don't know if they'll pass it even if they win however.

crime isn't actually that bad, the problem is fear of crime is really high due to scaremongering by the tabloid press and (of course) the opposition parties 6 days before an election.
