Best party ever for a 311 fan!

I definitely met Tim Mahoney, the guitarist on the street too, and saw Nick Hexum the lead singer at the fan party last night!

Its like christmas for 311 fans. Every single bar on bourbon was playing 311 music , people going INSANE.

I love their music, always have.
However, when I used to see them at small venues, it was so much better. These big shows they are doing now (have been for a while) leads me to lose alot of respect for them.

That said, I will be seeing them March 31st here in Seattle. Mostly because the opening band is pretty sick.

Yeah, it's a little ridiculous. Plenty of other bands more worthy that won't get this kind of treatment simply because they didn't pick a name that's a corresponding date on the calendar.

I'm envious, 311 isn't coming to Portland this year and I don't have time to trek up to see them in Seattle in the middle of the week. Sucks because I hate to miss the Chad Sexton show.

Every other year the band and thousands of their most loyal fans gather to New Orleans and celebrate with an extended concert put on by 311. The sets get longer every year, in 2000 they played 47 songs and in 2002 59 songs were played. In 2004 311 played 68 songs in 5 hours, and later that year a DVD was released of 311 Day 2004, containing 64 of the 68 songs. 311 Day in 2006 was held at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee. The band played 65 songs, the setlist was cut short from 69, because of a strict curfew of midnight. The band recorded the entire show in high definition. A 2 hour edit of the show aired on HDTV on December 10. 311 day was announced for 2008 to be held in the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Damn, five hours, I knew it was a lot.

It's not like a national holiday people, I'm guessing the band decided to have a big concert on March 11th cause, gasp, their band name is 311. Big deal.

Hey, I will say happy 311 day, as I work for the special effects crew for the NO show. I will be enjoying the show from the catwalk, where I will control a couple of confetti devices. We also have a control table behind the posers seating on stage right.

Whoa, you're right. A co-worker just told me this as well, said he heard it on the radio. Apparently, they just added the date to the tour a week or so ago.
