This xp "support out" will only point out that outdated and unsafe system is still less risky than user himself.
My understanding was that there's a good possibility that there are some exploits out there that black hats have been sitting on, waiting for the patches to end.
Microsoft has already told my company that they will continue to support, and make patches for, our 64,000 windows XP machines.
A security program warning you of security issues is nagware now? Seriously?I've had luck with malwarebytes. MSe bacame nagware vessel for MS if you have XP: reminding you how you need to upgrade on every boot
What's a "good anti-virus" for XP now? I heard that MSE is ending support for XP. Can I get a recommendations for AV for XP? Two of my machines still use it... TIA.
PS I used to run Avira Free, I suppose I could install that.
Dude, I support the fast food industry. We'll probably be using POS systems with Windows XP on them for another 10 years! Hell, we still have POS systems in service that we need to support using DOS
Think about that the next time you pay with a credit card!
All our school PCs run WinXP.

this is minor compared to the random junk my dad installs

While that is certainly possible, I was under the impression the way most of these things are written is that the malware folks simply wait for patch Tuesday to see what is being patched, then reverse engineer their malware to take advantage of unpatched systems.

Most banks have paid Microsoft to still support XP!! But that's Ok....you can pretend to know ...
because Microsoft is only providing support and patches if institutions like banks pay $$$$$....not private citizens!!Then why the fack can't they make those patches available to the general public?
