XLENT! I've been looking for a deal on a 55lb. anvil. Only 29.99. I think this is the same model used by Wile E. Coyote!

I bought one. Hit it with a 3lb hammer to shape a piece of steel and it split like dried play-doh.

Reminded me of a quote by Petersen (of Vise-Grip fame) whne he visited China and asked how they could make such crappy tools - He was told that "only in America can people afford to buy tools that don't work."

This place is nice for cheap tools for the home. Definitely not for pros. The tools will last thru several years of projects. I know they are all made in china-but where else can you buy a air nail gun for $15.

Just watch out for those $9.99 power drills...
I have one - the battery gets so hot it'll burn your hand, and the drill's motor is so weak that you could drill faster by just holding the bit between your fingers...which you might as well do, since it always falls out of the chuck...:disgust:

never skimp on POWER tools, non-powerded tools can usually be skimped on unless they are used on a daily basis. A screwdriver is a screwdriver in 99% of the cases.

I use their pittsburg tools all the time, they are better built than many of my craftsman tools which are becoming cheaper and cheaper.

I use tools everyday and I only buy the tools from there that I only use once in a while. Seal picks or files..yes. Screwdrivers or wrenches...Not a chance.

I have some Craftsman, Great Neck, Stanley and Harbor Freight screwdrivers (the manual, elbow-grease kind). I agree that there's not much difference in the flathead drivers but Philips screwdrivers can vary a lot. Some are too "sharp", others appear to be a good fit for the screwhead but for some reason don't "grab" well enough and end up stripping the screw. Surprisingly, the best Philips screwdrivers I own are generic Harbor Freight. The Stanley's come in a close second. The Great Necks rank way at the bottom. Not sure why I haven't thrown them away yet.

Well, I own craftsman, Stanley, Harbor Freight, and Evercraft (Napa) and the ones that break the LEAST are the harbor freight and Stanley. I am no longer allowed in the local Sears due to getting too many 3/8" drive ratchets replaced. The store manager was even shown that they were not abused when I tried to remove a simple bolt in the parkinglot in front of him, and the wrench (#4) broke. He gave me my $ back and asked me to never return. Now I just buy stanley and harbor freight and have yet to break a single one.

IMHO, craftsman is turning into generic crap.

I agree about crasftsman. for the money they want for tools they are not a very good buy anymore. Tho, I find it hard to believe that a manager from sears is asking you to never return to sears. Hmmm. Did you have all your craftman tools with you at the time? Just doesn't sound like good customer service. I wonder if Snap on tools are still a good buy? I've taken back probably 20-30 tools to sears with out problems. They just go back and get another. I once ran over a socket wrench. Yeah, it not suppose to be used to drive over. But I thought abused or not they were still going to replace it. Even if it's rusted to crap and you found it in the ground with a metal detector and only made out half of the craftsman stamped on the side you could still bring it back for a new one.

This should not have happened unless you became abussive to the manager. He should smile while replacing your broken tools - that is the Sears way. I've found a cresent wrench that was buried for 20 years and it was rusty and completely seized up, I wire brushed the handle to show the craftsman and returned it for a new one. The manager actually was chuckling while he replaced it with a new one.

You should make a formal complaintagainst the manager.

Scans could afford to be a little higher res but I can read the prices and see the pictures just fine. They have some really cheap tools here. I never even knew there was a HF store by my house until I saw it two months ago.

I will start doing higher quality scans about the same time someone starts paying me to do this
