i've never stepped foot into a harbor freight thank goodness. my tools are mostly from sears when there are slickdeals.

Same level tools with Sears being just a bit better anymore. Both carry lifetime warranties as well, Pittsburgh and Sears Craftsman.

Regarding lifetime warranties, it's sad but I feel in 10 years there's a better chance Harbor Freight will be here than Sears.

With a reciept; or you need to make them put your info into their computer when you buy.

lol Meh Ive just brought it in, they ask for a number but just for a record of replacement.

Once I brought in an older 1/2" torque wrench it was in an orange case and they almost didn't take it because their was no HF markings on it.. some guy in line was like yea I got one exactly like that.

The new ones they had where in a black box and still unmarked haha.

The sad part is many of HF's hand tools are now better quality than their sears counterparts.

Case in point:

HF 1/2" drive extending ratchet, 72 teeth, made in Taiwan, $17.99:

Craftsman 1/2" drive ratchet: $21.56 on sale, 36 teeth, made in China, rough finishing:

The 1/2 and 3/8 extendables are my go to tools that get pulled out for 95% of everything I do involving sockets. Rarely do I bother with anything else unless I know ahead of time I need something special.

Yeah, Sears is probably only a decade away from oblivion and the quality of there tools has been in decline for years. Sadly HF may become the goto place for most people that need tools. HF may actually have some decent tools now, but it's likely that going forward, if you need reliable good tools, you'll need to order them online.

10 years ago I would say that's BS for the most part. But today I say you have to look at the tool very carefully at both HF and Sears now.

Sears still has more high end tools vs HF having more low end tools. But there is so much crossover in the middle and better prices at HF I look at them first before sears now.

I like HF tools for what they are: cheap tools. I don't expect them to last forever, and when they last for years, I am pleasantly surprised by it.

Yeah. HF is great for when I only need a tool for one specific job and it isn't available to rent anywhere.

Even for tools that are available for rent many times its easier and/or cheaper to juts buy then resell when done.

I looked into renting a demolition hammer but found it cheaper to buy one then sell when done. That way I am not rushed and if anything comes up I am not stuck with a extra bill.

Just was reading an HF ad that came in the mail about an hour ago, and that made reading this extra LOL.

Yeah, whoever put this fake ad together really nailed the style and format of not only HF but many of the discount import based retailers.

Of course, in the world of electronic retailers we have X10. Kind of like JC Wittney...

if the solid brass dreidel and laser paintbrush appeared in a harbor freight flyer i wouldn't be surprised.

'never in stock free item' - the HF near me always has loads of the free items
