Is there any noticeable performance difference? When i run applications and games, will I notice a difference? Any articles out there on this? Thanks.

they're not gonna run faster once they load into memory...
and the loading times of 7200 vs., 5400 isn't gonna be hugely tremendously granted the drives are otherwise equal in all respects...
but given the price difference, u might as well go 7200, unless u need the absolute quietest and coolest running hdd...or need that extra 5 bucks for mickey d's combo for dinner...
A faster harddrive is the best way to get extra performance out of the system. It is the biggest bottleneck in systems currently, it runs thousands of times slower than the other components in your system. It won't really make a difference in game performance but it will improve load times for different maps and things. Also, applications will definitely go faster. Multitasking will also be improved because your pagefile will be read faster. Access times also improve. Platter size is also important. It's almost more important than spindle speed. Definitely go with a 7200RPM drive, the price differences are negligible.
