Very good work OP. Don't forget that many people are having probs collecting on their Seagate rebates from Outpost.

I just got my rebate from seagate from 10-10-04. Had to look it up a few times and had to call them twice to complain but I got it. So far I've never had a $40+ rebate that I didn't have to fight for. If you don't check on it it won't come.

I'm going to add that Fry's has 80GB Seagate PATA retail drives (still 5 year warranty) for $50 out the door, no rebates. After tax in Chicago it came to 54.71 or something, pretty damn cheap, I got 2.

Finally got my Seagate rebates in Jan that I submitted in Sept. Not worth the effort, had to call a number of times to get them to send it

Were some of these problematic Seagate rebates from deals that required multiple rebates? Just curious.

I jumped on the 160GB Seagate anyway. Hopefully the rebate process won't be too painful.

Sorry for the above!

I sent in a rebate to WD last summer on a 250 GB drive, but I didn't buy from Outpost.
Do you think that I would have problems getting the rebate this time.

I have ordered 3 different times from Outpost for the Seagate Hard Drive.

I have gotten all 3 rebates from seagate. All in 12-14 weeks. No phone calls. No contacts. Just my 2 cents.

Just ordered another one.

Could be that they fixed their problems. All my checks from Sept/Oct came in January

Up to this point, I have had 100% with Seagate rebates. I prefer buying a drive where the manufacturer makes it clear it will stand behind it. Seagate's 5-year warranty tells me that. I have seen what I think is a pretty substantial decline in Maxtor quality. Too many failures.

Lots of people have been having trouble getting their rebates from Seagate.

There is a strange caveat on the Seagate Rebate Form.

3. Rebate available only for purchases of qualifying Seagate drive made on 2/2/05 through 2/8/05.

Strange requirement.

I'm sure I'm reading it wrong but the wording seems to imply that the drive must be made between those dates.

I realize that they must mean the purchase must be made during those dates.

You are correct. The purchase must be made between 2/2/05 and 2/8/05.

Be patient, they're clearing out the UATA's because demand is dropping off.
