I'm trying to decide if the 36GB Raptor is worth it. I've got a Seagate 7200.9 on the way from Newegg so the real question is, is the Raptor or NCQ faster with a A64 3200+?

The 120GB Seagate at BB is $79.99 this week because of a $20 instant rebate in Memphis TN. That means ~$18 after taxes and rebates.

NCQ is just a marketing hype. (I know this because I am using one with NCQ. There's only little to 0 difference in performance between NCQ on/off) Contrast to that, Raptor (even 36GB one) is way faster than average 7200RPM HDD.

NCQ performance boosts can be seen best in multi-user server situations. Single-users typically won't see much of a difference.

I just ordered the 120GB Seagate from Best Buy and chose in store pickup. It has only been 15 minutes and I already received an email stating it is ready for pick up.
Not bad, $35 for this drive!
Thanks for the post.

I know Outpost.com (Fry's) ships via DHL, but what I don't know is if they require someone to be at your residence for delivery (aka signature).

Does Outpost or DHL require you to be at your residence for delivery?

Sorry if a little off topic, but I'm thinking about jumping on one of those Hard drive deals from Outpost.

For what it's worth, the Maxtor 200GB SATA deal at CompUSA for $99 also includes the SATA/PATA combo PCI controller card, which retails individually for $40. Makes the deal a bit hotter IMO (even though I didn't need it for my mainboard).
