Hard Drive for new system

I'm overhauling my new system with a P4 1.9Ghz, Asus P4B266, 256Mb DDR Ram, and I'm debating on what hard drive to get. I want around 60Gig IDE, I have an IBM ATA/100 30G. HD now and I thought about keeping it in the new computer just so that I didn't have to burn a bunch of stuff on cd's. I'm going to partion and install the new OS onto the new HD, and maybe after awhile take out the old HD.

So would you recommend going with an IBM 60GB 60GXP 7200 ATA/100? Or has there been another HD that outperforms it. I havn't been able to do alot of research on HD's.

The WD 1000BB, MaxtorD740X, and Seagate Baracudda IV are some options. Storagereview.com has the best hard drive reviews...

It depends on what you want out of a HD. Are you going to do any multimedia encoding, or just running Word? Do you care about noise? My point is that there isn't really a hands down "must have" drive that smokes all the others in everything.

While it is slightly out of date (September) I suggest you might want to read this article.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not to worried about noise, and mostly I run Word and Access, along with all the new games, like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Max Payne, and Madden 2002, those are my most played games.
I just wanted to make sure that IBM wasn't the worst decision.

I wouldn't get an IBM drive right now - they usually have high failure rates
I would get either a Maxtor or WD, definitely 7200 rpm

I would go with the wd. They are very reliable and high quality drives.
