Hard Drive formatted, now how do I install Windows?

Hello,

I have just installed IBM 75GXP 15G into emachine. I have Windows 95 cd which came with my previous computer and Windows 98 upgrade. My problem is I don't have any boot up disk and also what do I install? 95 or 98. If I want to install 98, don't I need 98 full version? along with 98 star-up disk?

Can the start-up disk be made from other computer? Or do I get some kind of DOS boot up disk from other computer?

Also If I try to install 95 it has to be formatted fat-16 right? but then I'll have to format HDD with many partition and I don't want to do that with 15G.

You see where I'm going with this right. Should I try and get Win 98 Full-version and create start-up disk from other computer?

Grab a windows 98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com, and then run setup from the win98 CD. It'll ask you to prove you own a previous product; when it does, insert the 95 CD, let it get detected, and switch back to the 98 CD.

And away you go!

If you have the original HD from the emachine get a copy of IBM's Disk Manager software from their web site and copy the contents from the old drive to the new drive.

If you have Windows already running on a machine, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Startup Disk tab. You can create a system boot disk for that OS here.

The upgrade disk is bootable load in the 98 cd and boot the computer to cd. It will do a full install for you and at some point it will ask you for proof of upgrade and will want you to enter in the identification # of your previous windows install (95) enter it and away you go!
I have done this more times then I can shake a stick at.

Use the restore CD from Emachines. Put in the CD and restart. It will boot from the CD and install windows and all software in one shot.
