Hard Drive issue, not sure what else to try.

I have a 3TB external drive when I try to transfer data off of it to another drive the transfer just freezes and hangs. I first tried a recovery of the data using various software and that failed. I then tried a check disk that took over a week to run I thought it was working because it actually made repairs, it finished last night I tried to transfer files after and still same problem.

Is there anything else I can do to try to get these files off this drive? I don't care about the drive long term but I would love to be able to get my files off of it.

Well, too bad you didn't post this as soon as you had an issue. Check disk most likely made things worse now.

If you would have installed CrystalDiskInfo, you would have most likely seen that the HD was failing, and usually because of bad sectors.

Now, your best bet is to purchase a new HD either the same size or bigger, and run ddrescue.
Or, just take it to the pros, and stop using the drive ASAP, the more you use it, the more of a chance that more stuff will be unrecoverable & even the HD itself can be bricked.

Put it in a Ziplock Freezer Bag over night. Pull it out and immediately mount the drive upside down or vertically and try to clone the drive or copy the files.

I have had it work before.
